Diri Marks Birthday With Reflection, Gratitude, Renewed Commitment To Bayelsa
Governor Douye Diri of Bayelsa State has expressed gratitude to the people of the state and well-wishers across the country for their prayers and goodwill messages as he marked his birthday on June 4.
In a personal message released on the occasion, the governor described his birthday as a special and blessed day, emphasizing that he has consistently maintained a private and reflective approach to celebrating it, both before and after assuming office.
According to Governor Diri, the day is traditionally devoted to prayer, thanksgiving and reflection rather than public festivities.
"Today, 4th of June, remains a special day in my life, a blessed day of my birth. In line with my personal principles, I have never been known for a loud celebration and I do not encourage anyone to do otherwise on my behalf," the governor stated.
He noted that long before becoming governor, he had always kept his birthday private and has continued to do so while serving in office.
"Long before I became the governor, I had kept my birthday very private and it has remained so since I came into office. It is usually a day of deep reflection, a time to commune with my Creator in prayer," Diri said.
The governor thanked Bayelsans and other well-wishers for their expressions of love and support, while requesting continued prayers for good health, wisdom and joy for his family and the state.
"I humbly thank you all for the good wishes and my humble request is for you to join me in prayers for sound health, wisdom, and joy in my family and the state," he added.
Governor Diri also reaffirmed his administration's commitment to the development and progress of Bayelsa State, assuring citizens that his government remains focused on delivering lasting projects and policies that will benefit present and future generations.
"Let me assure our people that I remain committed to the service and progress of our dear state. Our government is bequeathing to our people enduring legacies that will stand the test of history," he said.
The governor concluded by expressing appreciation for the goodwill shown to him on his birthday, pledging to continue serving the people of Bayelsa with dedication and a sense of responsibility.
