APC Dismisses Reports Of Omale’s Removal, Reaffirms Legitimacy Of Benue Executive Committee
The Benue State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has dismissed reports circulating on social media alleging that the party's State Executive Committee led by Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale has been dissolved and replaced by a State Working Committee headed by Hon. Austin Agada.
In a statement issued on Thursday, June 4, 2026, and signed by the State Publicity Secretary, Benedict Yawe, the party described the reports as false, misleading, and a deliberate attempt to create confusion among party members and the public.
According to the APC, no court sitting in Makurdi delivered any judgment on Wednesday dissolving the Omale-led executive committee, contrary to claims being circulated online.
"The reports currently in circulation are a gross distortion of facts and should be disregarded in their entirety," the statement said.
The party maintained that the tenure of the former State Executive Committee led by Hon. Austin Agada had expired and that subsequent constitutional processes had validly produced a new leadership structure for the party in the state.
The APC recalled that its State Congress was duly conducted in February 2026 in accordance with the party's constitution and guidelines, resulting in the election of Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale and other members of the current State Executive Committee.
It further noted that the outcome of the congress was ratified by the appropriate organs of the party and subsequently confirmed at the APC National Convention held in Abuja in March 2026.
The party therefore affirmed that Chief Dr. Omale remains the duly elected and recognised Chairman of the APC in Benue State, while members of the current executive committee remain the only constitutionally recognised officials authorised to administer the affairs of the party in the state.
Expressing concern over what it described as persistent attempts to revive settled issues, the APC accused certain individuals and groups of promoting narratives that have no basis in law, party procedures, or political reality.
The statement described the latest reports as a desperate effort by political actors seeking relevance through misinformation and sensationalism rather than legitimate democratic engagement.
The party urged members and supporters to ignore unverified social media publications aimed at creating unnecessary tension within the APC and across Benue State.
Reaffirming its commitment to stability and development, the APC stated that the Omale-led leadership remains united and focused on supporting the administration of Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia in delivering sustainable development, strengthening institutions, and improving the welfare of the people.
The party also called on the public to rely solely on official communications from the APC and disregard what it termed the activities of "rumour merchants" engaged in spreading falsehood and political mischief.
It stressed that no amount of propaganda or media speculation could alter what it described as the constitutional reality that the Chief Dr. Benjamin Omale-led Executive Committee remains the duly elected, recognised, and legitimate leadership of the APC in Benue State.
