Diri Celebrates Madam Ebidei Kumokou At 70, Hails Her Selflessness, Sacrifice

Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Douye Diri, on Sunday joined family members, friends and well-wishers to celebrate the 70th birthday of Madam Ebidei Kumokou, describing her as a woman of humility, sacrifice and unwavering commitment to family and community.

The governor attended the thanksgiving service held at the Greater Evangelism World Crusade, Amarata Church 1, Yenagoa, alongside his wives, Dr. (Mrs.) Gloria Diri and Justice (Mrs.) Patience Ama Diri.

Madam Kumokou is the wife of the governor's elder cousin, Chief Isaac Kumokou.
Speaking during the celebration, Governor Diri recalled the love and care he received from the celebrant many years ago while living with her family in Port Harcourt, noting that her kindness left a lasting impact on his life.

He said Madam Kumokou had cared for his welfare with humility and selflessness, describing her as a devoted mother, sister and supportive wife whose life has been marked by service to others.

The governor explained that although he rarely celebrates birthdays, reaching the age of 70 is a milestone worthy of honour.
"I am not particularly a birthday person. I hardly ever celebrate even my own birthday. But there are milestones that cannot be ignored. Seventy years is one of such milestones," he said.

"Looking back at all she has been to us as a family, there was no way I could have been absent from this celebration."

Governor Diri thanked God for preserving Madam Kumokou's life and prayed for many more years in good health, fulfilment and continued divine favour.
"On behalf of my family and our community, I pray for God's continued blessings upon the celebrant and that her life will continue to fulfil God's purpose," he added.

The thanksgiving service drew family members, associates and other well-wishers who gathered to celebrate Madam Kumokou's seven decades of life, service and enduring impact on those around her.
