Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, has announced the introduction of a 13th-month salary bonus for civil servants in the state, expressing his determination to become the first governor in Delta to implement the initiative.

The governor made the announcement on Wednesday during the Grand Finale Dinner and Award Night of the 2026 Public Service Week Celebration in Asaba, where he also commended the dedication, resilience, and professionalism of public servants, describing them as indispensable partners in advancing good governance and the successful implementation of his administration's MORE Agenda.

Speaking on the theme of the 2026 Public Service Week, "Reforms, Resilience and Results," Oborevwori said the theme aptly reflects the values that continue to drive the state's public service. He noted that meaningful reforms begin with people and stressed that the achievements recorded across critical sectors of governance were made possible through the commitment and collective efforts of the state's workforce.

The governor congratulated outstanding officers honoured during the award ceremony for their exemplary service, urging them to remain committed to excellence and integrity in the discharge of their duties.

He also disclosed that the Permanent Secretaries' Quarters and official vehicles procured for newly appointed Permanent Secretaries are ready for commissioning, with only minor finishing works remaining.

Reaffirming his administration's commitment to improving the welfare of workers, Oborevwori said the newly approved 13th-month salary bonus underscores his government's appreciation for the sacrifices and contributions of Delta State civil servants to the growth and development of the state.

The announcement was received with excitement and applause from the gathering of public servants, government officials, and other dignitaries who attended the event.
