PGF Passes Vote Of Confidence On Uzodimma, Vows To Secure Tinubu’s Re-Election

The Progressive Governors Forum (PGF) has passed a vote of confidence on its Chairman and Governor of Imo State, Hope Uzodimma, as well as the forum’s Vice Chairman and Governor of Kaduna State, Uba Sani.

The vote of confidence was moved during a closed-door meeting of the governors in Abuja and later reaffirmed during a press conference held after the meeting.

Governor of Kebbi State, Nasir Idris, moved the motion, which was seconded by Governor Uba Sani.
The renewed endorsement followed questions from journalists over rumours alleging the removal of Uzodimma as chairman of the forum.

Speaking on behalf of the governors, Idris dismissed the reports as false, noting that over 23 governors who attended the meeting unanimously reaffirmed their confidence in Uzodimma’s leadership.

According to him, the fact that Uzodimma presided over the meeting alongside his deputy was sufficient proof that the leadership of the forum remained intact.
He urged members of the media to exercise caution in their reportage and always verify the authenticity and sources of information before publication.

Also addressing journalists, Uzodimma said the forum remained united and would not be distracted by what he described as fake news.

The Imo governor stated that the governors elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) were focused on ensuring the re-election of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027.
“As you are aware, just yesterday, we accompanied His Excellency Vice President Kashim Shettima to submit the nomination forms of President Tinubu, signifying that he is recontesting. We just had a meeting to reaffirm our unflinching support for him,” Uzodimma said.

He added that the forum had resolved to give Tinubu total support towards securing another term in office and would not succumb to distractions or political blackmail.

Uzodimma further stated that the governors’ support for Tinubu was based on what he described as the president’s pragmatic economic reforms, which he said were repositioning the country for economic growth and infrastructural development.

He called on Nigerians to support the president’s re-election bid to enable him consolidate on the achievements of his administration.
