NCSU Commends Ignatius Ajuru University of Education For Accommodating Rivers Workers Amid Secretariat Renovation
The Nigeria Civil Service Union (NCSU) has applauded the management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, St. John’s Campus, Port Harcourt, for providing temporary accommodation to staff of the Office of the Rivers State Auditor General, following the ongoing renovation of the State Secretariat Complex.
The Rivers State Chairman of the NCSU, Comrade Chukwuka Richman Osumah, gave the commendation during an interview in Port Harcourt, where he expressed the union’s profound appreciation to the institution for what he described as a remarkable demonstration of partnership, patriotism, and support for the state workforce.
According to Osumah, the university management graciously accepted to host members of staff of the Office of the Auditor General, including the Auditor General of the State himself, within its premises to ensure uninterrupted government operations during the renovation exercise at the secretariat complex.
He noted that the gesture has not only provided relief for affected workers but has also demonstrated the institution’s commitment to the progress and stability of governance in Rivers State.
The labour leader further praised the sacrifices being made by the management, staff, and officials of the institution in creating adequate office spaces and ensuring a conducive working environment for the displaced civil servants.
He described the development as a rare act of goodwill and cooperation that reflects the strong synergy between government institutions and stakeholders in the state.
“By this singular act of generosity and understanding, the management of the Ignatius Ajuru University of Education has shown itself to be a dependable partner in the collective effort to sustain effective governance and public service delivery in Rivers State,” Osumah stated.
The NCSU chairman also extended appreciation to other institutions, agencies, parastatals, and organisations across the state that have equally opened their facilities to accommodate civil servants and government officials affected by the temporary relocation caused by the ongoing rehabilitation of the State Secretariat Complex.
He observed that their support has greatly assisted the state government in ensuring that administrative activities continue seamlessly without disruption despite the ongoing infrastructural upgrade.
Osumah emphasised that the union and the Rivers State Government have taken note of the sacrifices and cooperation being demonstrated by the various organisations and stakeholders, stressing that such support remains critical to sustaining efficient public service operations.
He further called on civil servants in the state to remain calm, committed, and focused on their duties, despite the prevailing political developments in the state.
According to him, public servants must continue to uphold professionalism and loyalty in the discharge of their responsibilities while supporting efforts aimed at ensuring peace, stability, and development in Rivers State.
The union leader reaffirmed the support of workers for the administration of Governor Sir Siminalayi Fubara, urging civil servants not to allow political distractions to weaken their dedication to service and commitment to the progress of the state.
He expressed optimism that the ongoing renovation of the State Secretariat Complex would ultimately provide a more conducive and modern working environment for workers upon completion.
