Imo APC Hails Workers On May Day, Labels Them “Luckiest Workforce” In Nigeria

The Imo State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has congratulated workers across the state on the occasion of the 2026 International Workers’ Day, commending their dedication and contributions to governance and economic growth.

In a press statement issued on May 1 by the State Publicity Secretary, Onwuasoanya FCC Jones, the party described Imo workers as critical drivers of government reforms and development. It acknowledged the efforts of employees across public institutions, private sector operators, and the broader workforce whose daily commitment sustains the state’s economy.

The APC further assured workers of its continued commitment to improving their welfare, while describing them as the “luckiest workforce in Nigeria.” According to the party, this is due to what it termed favourable labour policies implemented by the state government under Hope Uzodimma.

The statement highlighted several initiatives credited to the Uzodimma administration, including enhanced salary structures, timely payment of wages, introduction of a 13th-month salary, free transportation schemes, and other worker-friendly policies. It noted that these measures have significantly improved the living standards of workers in the state.

The party also expressed appreciation to the governor for prioritising workers’ welfare and recognizing their role in governance and service delivery.

While urging workers to sustain their commitment, the APC encouraged them to reciprocate the government’s efforts through increased productivity, transparency, and alignment with the administration’s “Shared Prosperity” agenda.

The statement reaffirmed the party’s stance that the welfare of workers remains central to its governance priorities in Imo State.
