Nwifuru Urges Muslims To Pray For Peace, Unity, Social Cohesion At Eid-el-Kabir
The Governor of Ebonyi State, Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has called on Muslim faithful across Nigeria to use the occasion of this year’s Eid-el-Kabir celebration to pray for peace, unity, love and social cohesion in the country.
In a statement issued on Wednesday by his Chief Press Secretary, Dr. Monday Uzor, Governor Nwifuru urged Muslim Ummah and followers of Prophet Muhammad to seek divine intervention for the nation amid the numerous challenges confronting it.
According to the Governor, sacred occasions such as Eid-el-Kabir provide citizens with a rare opportunity to seek spiritual solutions to the country’s socio-economic and political difficulties through supplication and sincere devotion to Allah.
“The truth is that sacred occasions, events and seasons like this offer us not only the opportunity, but a rare privilege to seek spiritual solutions to the plethora of physical challenges greeting and staring starkly at us as a nation,” the Governor stated.
He described Eid-el-Kabir as a special season graciously granted to Nigerians to seek Allah’s intervention and guidance for national healing and progress.
Governor Nwifuru further stressed that peace, unity and love remain the key ingredients needed to strengthen national cohesion and foster harmonious coexistence among citizens, irrespective of ethnic or religious differences.
“As we celebrate this sacred event, I urge our Muslim brothers and sisters to pray for peace across the country, unity in pursuit of a common national vision, and love for one another to ensure social cohesion,” he added.
The Governor also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to sustaining partnerships with religious bodies and strengthening interfaith dialogue as part of efforts to promote peaceful coexistence and effective governance in the state.
He noted that his government would continue to collaborate with religious organisations in delivering the dividends of democracy in line with the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda.
The statement wished Muslim faithful a peaceful and spiritually rewarding Eid-el-Kabir celebration.
