Diri Felicitates Muslims On Eid-el-Kabir, Urges Prayers For Nigeria

The Governor of Bayelsa State, Douye Diri, has extended warm felicitations to the Muslim Ummah in the state and across Nigeria on the occasion of the Eid-el-Kabir celebration.

In a statement issued on Wednesday by his spokesperson, Mr. Daniel Alabrah, the governor described Eid al-Adha as a significant festival that symbolises sacrifice, obedience, faith and devotion to God, virtues he said every true believer should emulate.

Governor Diri called on Muslims to continue to offer prayers for the peace, security and wellbeing of Bayelsa State and Nigeria, especially at a critical period in the nation’s socio-economic journey.

He urged adherents of Islam to look beyond the festivities and imbibe the enduring virtues of patriotism, patience, selflessness and sacrifice as exemplified by the teachings of the Holy Prophet.

The Bayelsa governor further charged Muslims to strengthen the bonds of brotherhood and peaceful coexistence with people of other faiths, stressing the need for unity and harmony among residents of the state.

According to him, Nigeria is currently passing through a crucial phase that requires collective prayers, resilience and patience from citizens, expressing optimism that the country would attain greater heights through shared commitment and national unity.

“On behalf of the government and people of Bayelsa State, I wish our Muslim brothers and sisters a peaceful and joyous Eid Mubarak,” the governor stated.

He also wished the Muslim faithful a happy Sallah celebration, saying: “Barka da Sallah!”
