Fubara Targets January Completion for New Creek Road Market
Rivers State Governor, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, has expressed confidence that the New Creek Road Market in Old Port Harcourt City will be completed within the scheduled timeline of January 2027.
The governor made this known on Monday during an inspection visit to the construction site, where he assessed the progress of work and received briefings from project contractors.
Commending the pace of execution so far, Governor Fubara noted that the market project, which was awarded in January 2026, is part of the state government’s broader urban renewal plan aimed at decongesting roadside trading and providing traders with a more organised and structured business environment.
He explained that upon completion, the modern market would facilitate the relocation of street traders, while also creating space for the ongoing development and expansion of internal road networks within the area.
The governor reiterated his administration’s commitment to delivering key infrastructure projects on schedule, in line with its development agenda for the state.
Further updates on the project are expected as construction progresses.
