The colourful procession, held on October 30, 2026, formed part of the activities marking the inauguration of the Uhunmwode Chapter of the initiative and featured an impressive turnout of women, political stakeholders and supporters.

Led by the President and Founder of the initiative, Mrs Anita Iyare, the procession commenced at Idokpa Bypass along the Benin-Auchi Road, proceeded through Eyean Primary School and adjoining communities, and terminated at the Oasis Hotel field, venue of the inauguration ceremony.

The event also recognised the Executive Chairman of Uhunmwode Local Government Council, Hon. Austin Imafidon, popularly known as ISIWINA, with the He for She Award as the Most Gender Responsive Chairman of the Year, in recognition of his support for women and commitment to gender inclusion.

Speaking as host of the programme, Imafidon reaffirmed his administration's support for initiatives that promote women's empowerment, inclusive governance and greater participation of women in community and political development.

In his remarks, the Uhunmwode APC Chairman, Rt. Hon. Osawe Osayemwere, commended the organisers for their efforts in mobilising women at the grassroots, expressing confidence in the initiative's capacity to expand political participation across the local government area.

He described the turnout as a demonstration of the participants' willingness to engage in the country's political process and expressed optimism about Uhunmwode's contribution to the 2.5 million votes target announced by Governor Okpebholo in support of President Tinubu.

A major highlight of the ceremony was the oath-taking exercise coordinated by Hon. Billy Osawaru Adesuwa, Member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.

Following the exercise, Mrs Iyare formally inaugurated the ward coordinators and executives, charging them to remain committed to the objectives of the initiative, strengthen their structures and sustain grassroots mobilisation across the 12 wards of Uhunmwode.

The programme also attracted financial commitments from political leaders and stakeholders towards strengthening the initiative and supporting women's empowerment.

Hon. Austin Imafidon announced an empowerment grant of ₦1 million for the women, while Hon. Billy Osawaru Adesuwa and Hon. Kaycee Osamwonyi, a member of the Edo State House of Assembly, donated ₦500,000 each.
