Oluku Tanker Explosion: Ayedi Sunny Mourns Victims, Condoles Bereaved Families
Hon. Ayedi Ikiyokepere Sunny, Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for the Edo State House of Assembly representing Ovia South West Constituency, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic tanker explosion at Oluku, Edo State, which claimed lives and left families and the wider community mourning.
Sunny described the incident as a painful loss to Edo State and Nigeria at large, extending his heartfelt condolences to the families of those who lost their lives in the unfortunate tragedy.
In his condolence message, the NDC candidate said the incident was deeply saddening, noting that the loss of innocent lives had brought grief not only to the affected families but also to the entire state.
He sympathised with the bereaved families, praying that God would grant them the strength and fortitude to endure the painful loss of their loved ones. He also expressed solidarity with residents of Oluku and other affected persons during this difficult period.
Sunny called for renewed attention to road safety and the prevention of tanker-related accidents, stressing the need for relevant authorities and stakeholders to strengthen safety measures to protect lives and property.
He noted that tragedies of this nature underscore the importance of collective responsibility in ensuring public safety, particularly along busy highways and in communities exposed to the risks associated with the transportation of petroleum products.
The NDC candidate urged residents to remain safety-conscious and appealed to the relevant emergency agencies to continue providing the necessary assistance to affected persons.
He reaffirmed his sympathy with the people of Oluku, the bereaved families and the government and people of Edo State, describing the incident as a painful reminder of the value of human life and the need for concerted efforts to prevent avoidable tragedies.
“It's a sad day for Edo State and Nigeria at large. I sympathise with the families of those who lost their lives in this ugly incident. My thoughts and prayers are with them at this difficult time,” Sunny said.
