Oluku Market Fire: Osawaru Sympathises With Traders, Calls For Support For Victims
Hon. Chief Dr. Billy Famous Adesuwa Osawaru, the member representing Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has expressed deep sympathy with traders, business owners and other victims affected by the tragic fire incident at Oluku Market in Edo State.
Osawaru described the incident as painful and devastating, noting that the destruction of goods, shops and other business assets had dealt a severe blow to the livelihoods of many traders and their families.
The federal lawmaker commiserated with those who lost their sources of income and investments in the inferno, while expressing concern for victims who sustained injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
He said the incident was particularly distressing because many traders depend on their daily commercial activities to provide for their families, educate their children and meet other essential needs.
Osawaru extended his heartfelt condolences to families who may have lost loved ones in the tragedy and prayed for God's comfort, strength and healing for everyone affected by the incident.
He also wished the injured victims a speedy recovery, urging them to remain hopeful despite the difficult circumstances confronting them.
The lawmaker called on relevant government agencies, emergency management authorities and other stakeholders to provide the necessary assistance to affected traders and business owners to help them recover from their losses and rebuild their businesses.
He stressed the importance of coordinated relief efforts to alleviate the immediate suffering of victims and support the restoration of economic activities in the affected area.
Osawaru further underscored the need to strengthen fire prevention and emergency response measures in markets and other commercial centres to minimise the risk of similar incidents in the future.
According to him, ensuring adequate safety measures, improving emergency preparedness and promoting public awareness of fire prevention are essential to protecting lives, property and livelihoods.
He reaffirmed his concern for the welfare of his constituents and the wider Edo State community, emphasising the importance of solidarity and collective action in times of tragedy.
The lawmaker urged well-meaning individuals, corporate organisations and relevant authorities to extend a helping hand to those affected, noting that timely support would go a long way in helping the victims overcome their losses and return to their normal lives.
He expressed hope that, with the necessary assistance and collective commitment, affected traders and business owners would gradually recover from the incident and rebuild their livelihoods.
