Odey Advocates Fresh Start, Promises to Make Cross River Work For Residents
John Upan Odey has called for a new direction in Cross River State, advocating a development agenda that prioritises job creation, business growth, quality healthcare and equitable access to opportunities for residents.
Odey, whose political message ahead of the 2027 election centres on the slogan, “Let Cross River Work for Cross Riverians,” said the state’s abundant natural resources, talented population and vibrant communities should translate into improved living conditions for its people.
He noted that despite the state’s resources and human potential, many Cross Riverians continue to face challenges in securing decent jobs, building sustainable businesses, accessing quality healthcare and transporting goods to markets.
According to him, the situation calls for a development approach that places the welfare and economic advancement of residents at the centre of governance.
Odey maintained that Cross River State should create an environment where young people can find meaningful employment without being compelled to seek opportunities elsewhere, while local businesses receive the necessary infrastructure and support to thrive.
He also emphasised the need for reliable electricity, accessible roads and stronger economic support systems to enable businesses to expand, create jobs and contribute to the state’s development.
The 2027 political message further stresses the importance of ensuring that communities across the state benefit from its economic resources and development initiatives.
“This is about more than government. It is about dignity. It is about opportunity. It is about giving Cross Riverians a reason to believe again,” Odey stated in his message.
He reiterated his call for a state where public policies and development programmes deliver tangible benefits to residents, regardless of their communities.
Under the banner, “A Fresh Start — One People, One Cross River,” Odey’s message seeks to promote unity and a shared vision of progress, with emphasis on economic opportunities, inclusive development and improved living standards.
He has also directed members of the public to his campaign manifesto for further details of his proposed agenda for Cross River State.
