Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has expressed profound sadness over the death of former governor of the state, Dr. Emmanuel Eweta Uduaghan, CON, describing him as a detribalised leader whose contributions to the development of Delta State would remain indelible.

Uduaghan died on Monday, October 19, 2026, at the age of 71, according to a statement issued by his family.

In a condolence message issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Sir Festus Ahon, Governor Oborevwori sympathised with the late governor’s wife, Roli, his children, the Uduaghan family, the Itsekiri nation and the people of Delta State over the painful loss.

The governor acknowledged Uduaghan’s contributions to the development of the state during his years in public service, particularly his efforts towards infrastructure development and the overall advancement of Delta State.

He described the former governor as a detribalised leader who transcended ethnic considerations in his approach to governance and remained committed to the collective progress and development of the state.

Oborevwori noted that Uduaghan’s years of service had left a lasting mark on Delta State, stressing that his death was a significant loss not only to the state but also to Nigeria.

Before becoming governor in May 2007, Uduaghan served as Commissioner for Health from 1999 to 2003 and later as Secretary to the State Government from 2003 to 2007. He subsequently served two terms as governor, leaving office in 2015.

He also acknowledged Uduaghan’s place in the history of Delta State, as tributes continue to emerge following the passing of the former governor.
