Leghemo Pledges People-Centred Representation For Southern Ijaw

Diepreye Abaye Leghemo, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, has pledged to pursue purposeful representation, youth development, women's empowerment and community-focused initiatives if elected in the 2027 general elections.

Leghemo said Southern Ijaw deserved a new chapter of leadership driven by people-centred priorities and a genuine commitment to improving the lives of ordinary citizens.

In a statement outlining his vision for the constituency, the NDC candidate stressed that politics should go beyond elections, campaign promises and political slogans, insisting that leadership must be assessed by its impact on the people after the votes have been counted.

He noted that effective representation should address the everyday challenges facing young people seeking decent livelihoods, women striving to sustain their businesses, parents working to provide for their families and communities yearning for meaningful development.

According to him, leadership should be measured by the issues it prioritises, the interests it protects and the opportunities it creates for the people.

Leghemo also called for a renewed focus on preparing Southern Ijaw for future generations, emphasising the need to strengthen the voices of constituents and place the welfare of local communities at the centre of public service.

He identified youth development and women's empowerment as key areas requiring serious attention, adding that the constituency needed representation capable of translating public expectations into meaningful progress.

The candidate explained that his aspiration was not merely to become part of the political system but to contribute to building a system that works better for the people of Southern Ijaw.

He maintained that achieving the desired future would require deliberate choices, collective commitment and a willingness to pursue a different path towards development.

Leghemo urged residents of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency to support his vision and participate actively in the electoral process.

He called on voters to cast their ballots for the NDC on January 16, 2027, expressing optimism that collective action could usher in a new era of responsive and people-oriented representation for the constituency.
