Ex-APC Woman Leader Enekpen, Others Defect To NDC In Orhionmwon
The immediate past Woman Leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Orhionmwon Local Government Area of Edo State, Mrs Enekpen Enabulele, popularly known as Mama Owen, has defected to the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) alongside her supporters and political associates ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The defection ceremony took place in Urhonigbe South Ward 8, where Mrs Enabulele and her supporters were formally received into the NDC by the party's candidate for Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency, Michael Ogbomo Ernest.
Other party leaders present at the event included the NDC Local Government Chairman, Prince Hope Ogiugo; Edo South Senatorial Woman Leader, Mrs Susan Osagiede; former Councillor, Hon. Smart Imarhiagbe; Local Government Woman Leader, Mrs Loveth Inene; and Urhonigbe South Ward Chairman, Mr Romeo Uhunmwangho, among others.
Speaking at the event, Mrs Enabulele, an Urhonigbe-born grassroots politician, attributed her decision to leave the APC to what she described as deceit and injustice within the party, despite her contributions to its electoral successes in Orhionmwon. She also cited her concerns about the state of the nation as a factor behind her decision.
She explained that her decision to join the NDC followed her assessment of the party and its candidates, adding that she had pledged her support for Michael Ogbomo Ernest's Better Life Movement, which she described as “Abuja Direct!”
Welcoming the defectors, Ogbomo Ernest reaffirmed his commitment to his Better Life legislative agenda, promising effective representation and people-oriented leadership if elected to represent Orhionmwon/Uhunmwode Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives.
He expressed confidence in the movement's vision of delivering meaningful benefits to the people of the constituency, stressing the importance of representation that responds to the needs and aspirations of the people.
The ceremony climaxed with the presentation of NDC-branded materials to Mrs Enabulele and the other defectors, formally marking their entry into the party.
The development represents another political realignment in Orhionmwon ahead of the 2027 general elections, as Ogbomo Ernest's Better Life Movement seeks to expand its grassroots support across the constituency.
