ASSJ Condemns Attack On MC Porcupine, Calls For Thorough Police Investigation
The Alliance for Security and Social Justice (ASSJ) has condemned the reported attack on popular entertainer Osagie Idieda, popularly known as MC Porcupine, calling on the Edo State Police Command to ensure a thorough, transparent and impartial investigation into the incident.
The organisation made its position known in a press statement issued on Monday, October 26, 2026, in response to a statement by the Edo State Police Command concerning the reported assault on the entertainer by suspected hoodlums in Benin City on October 24, 2026.
ASSJ expressed concern over the incident, describing violence against any individual as unacceptable and stressing the need to protect the safety, dignity and fundamental human rights of residents, irrespective of their social status, occupation or public profile.
The organisation welcomed the directive by the Commissioner of Police, Edo State Command, CP Patrick Daaor, psc(+), mnips, for an immediate investigation into the incident.
According to ASSJ, a professional and impartial investigation is necessary to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged attack, identify those responsible and ensure that justice is served in accordance with the law.
The group urged the police to pursue the investigation diligently, examine all credible evidence and ensure that anyone found culpable is brought before the appropriate authorities in line with due process.
It also called on the police to take appropriate lawful measures to safeguard the victim and potential witnesses against intimidation, threats or further harm as investigations continue.
ASSJ further appealed to members of the public who may possess relevant information about the incident to cooperate with the police, emphasising that public cooperation can contribute to the successful investigation of criminal allegations.
The organisation cautioned against the circulation of unverified information, premature accusations and any attempt to take the law into one's hands, noting that such actions could undermine the investigation and create unnecessary tension.
Reaffirming its commitment to public safety, accountability and the protection of fundamental human rights, ASSJ stressed that professional policing and respect for the rule of law remain essential to maintaining peace and public confidence in security institutions.
It maintained that allegations of criminal conduct must be addressed through established legal processes, with justice pursued without bias or undue influence.
The organisation also expressed hope for the speedy recovery and well-being of MC Porcupine, urging the relevant authorities to treat the matter with the seriousness it deserves.
The statement was signed by Comrade Jeffery Nzekwe, Public Relations Officer of the Alliance for Security and Social Justice, who reiterated the organisation's commitment to advocating justice, accountability and the protection of residents across Edo State.
ASSJ concluded by emphasising the need for justice, accountability and strict adherence to the rule of law, adding that violence must not be normalised in society.
“Justice must be pursued, accountability must be upheld, and the rule of law must prevail,” the organisation declared.
