ALGON Summit: Ebonyi Chapter Participates Under Aduga’s Leadership, Joins APC Presidential Campaign Council Inauguration

The Association of Local Governments of Nigeria (ALGON) has continued to play a significant role in strengthening grassroots governance and promoting effective administration across the country, with its national summit in Abuja providing a platform for local government leaders to exchange ideas and explore strategies for improved service delivery.

The national engagement, held in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja, underscores the importance of local governments as the tier of government closest to the people and a critical institution for delivering essential services, including primary healthcare, basic education, rural infrastructure, agricultural development and community-based empowerment.

The Ebonyi State chapter of ALGON, under the leadership of its chairman, Hon. Mrs. Helen Nnenna Aduga, participated in the national engagement as part of efforts to strengthen collaboration and share experiences with local government leaders from other parts of the federation.

The participation of the Ebonyi delegation highlights the importance of cooperation among local government authorities in addressing common administrative challenges, improving governance practices and identifying practical approaches to meeting the needs of communities.

Beyond providing an avenue for interaction among council leaders, the summit also offers an opportunity for participants to reflect on the responsibilities of local governments and the need to strengthen institutions that directly affect the daily lives of citizens.

In a related development, Hon. Mrs. Aduga, alongside members of her team, also participated in the inauguration of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Presidential Campaign Council on Wednesday, October 14, 2026, at the Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

The event brought the Ebonyi ALGON leadership into another national political engagement, reflecting the intersection of local government leadership and broader political activities in the country.

Meanwhile, Ebonyi State continues to pursue its development priorities under the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, whose government has adopted the People's Charter of Needs as its guiding development philosophy.

The state's participation in national engagements such as the ALGON summit provides an opportunity for its local government leadership to exchange ideas and consider approaches that could contribute to grassroots development and improved service delivery across the state.

As local governments continue to occupy a central position in Nigeria's governance structure, effective coordination, institutional cooperation and people-oriented policies remain important to ensuring that the benefits of governance reach communities at the grassroots.
