Aiguobarueghian’s Supporters Cite Legislative Record, Projects In Bid For Ovia Federal Seat
Supporters of Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Ovia Federal Constituency in the 2027 general election, have highlighted his legislative record and constituency projects, describing competence and proven performance as the qualities needed to represent the area in the House of Representatives.
In a statement issued by the CIA Media, the supporters argued that Ovia Federal Constituency needs a representative with the experience, capacity and commitment to deliver tangible results, rather than one who relies solely on campaign promises.
Aiguobarueghian, who represents Ovia North East Constituency I in the Edo State House of Assembly and serves as Minority Leader, was described as a lawmaker whose experience and achievements make him suitable for promotion to the federal legislature.
The statement highlighted several bills sponsored by the lawmaker, including the Bill for Citizens’ Rights and Dispute Resolution and a bill seeking to regulate scrap metal dealers to curb vandalism. It also noted his participation in the passage of more than 44 laws by the Edo State House of Assembly, including the Edo State Security Corps Law.
On constituency development, the statement listed the construction and furnishing of a six-classroom block at Okhunmwun Secondary School in Oluku Ward as one of his achievements. It also cited the remodelling of a six-classroom block at Ekiadolor Secondary School in Iguedaiken, alongside the provision of offices, a perimeter fence and 300 three-seater desks.
According to the statement, Aiguobarueghian also donated chairs to Eresoyen Primary School, Eresonyen Secondary School and Isiuwa Primary School to improve learning conditions for pupils and students.
The lawmaker was further credited with facilitating the donation and installation of transformers in communities across the constituency, including a 500KVA transformer for Igue-Iheya Community in Oluku Ward.
His supporters also cited his advocacy over the failed Ovia River Bridge along the Benin-Lagos Expressway, which he reportedly called on the Federal Government to repair, warning of the dangers posed by its condition.
Other interventions highlighted included the payment of West African Examinations Council (WAEC) fees for indigent students and the provision of business grants to market women across the wards.
The statement maintained that these interventions demonstrated the importance of experience and practical results in determining who should represent Ovia Federal Constituency at the National Assembly.
It added that the 2027 election presents an opportunity for voters to assess candidates based on their records, capacity to attract development and willingness to remain connected to their constituents after winning elections.
The campaign also urged voters to support the NDC candidate, adopting the slogan, “One Excellent Term Deserves a Promotion,” as its central message.
Aiguobarueghian’s media team expressed confidence in his prospects, insisting that his legislative experience and constituency interventions position him to represent Ovia Federal Constituency at the federal level.
The statement concluded with a call on voters to elect Aiguobarueghian in 2027, with the campaign framing his candidacy around the message that competence, rather than promises, should determine the choice of representative.
