Aiguobarueghian Improves Obazuwa II Primary School With Perimeter Fence, Water Supply

Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian, the representative of Ovia North East Constituency I in the Edo State House of Assembly, has facilitated the provision of a perimeter fence, gate and water supply at Obazuwa II Primary School in Uhiere Ward 7, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

The intervention, according to information from his camp, followed concerns raised by community elders over the deplorable state of facilities at the school, which previously lacked a perimeter fence, a gate and access to water.

The absence of a fence reportedly allowed cattle to roam freely within the school compound, sometimes during lessons, exposing pupils to potential safety risks and disrupting the learning environment.

Similarly, the lack of water made proper toilet hygiene and sanitation difficult for pupils and staff.

Responding to the concerns, Hon. Charity provided a perimeter fence covering an area measuring 400 by 500 feet, alongside a gate and a water connection to address the identified challenges.

The intervention is expected to improve security within the school premises, restrict the entry of roaming cattle and promote better hygiene and sanitation.

Beyond the physical infrastructure, the project addresses concerns about the safety, welfare and dignity of pupils and the wider school community. Access to a secure and hygienic learning environment remains an important factor in supporting effective teaching and learning.

The project also highlights the importance of community engagement in identifying local development priorities, as the intervention reportedly followed consultations with elders who drew attention to the school's challenges.

Hon. Charity, who currently represents Ovia North East Constituency I in the Edo State House of Assembly, is seeking election to the House of Representatives for Ovia Federal Constituency under the platform of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

His supporters have cited the Obazuwa II Primary School project as an example of the type of community-focused intervention they hope to see extended to other parts of the federal constituency.

As the 2027 general elections approach, development needs across Ovia Federal Constituency, including education, infrastructure and access to essential amenities, are expected to remain important issues in discussions about representation.

The Obazuwa II project adds to the conversation about how elected representatives can respond to grassroots concerns and translate identified needs into practical interventions that directly affect residents.

For the school community, the provision of fencing, a gate and water supply addresses longstanding infrastructure gaps and offers the prospect of a safer and more hygienic environment for pupils and teachers.
