2027: OSR Unveils Development Agenda For Oredo, Promises Jobs, Security, Healthcare
Hon. Osazee Richard, popularly know as OSR, a philanthropist, entrepreneur and real estate investor, has unveiled an ambitious development agenda for Oredo Federal Constituency ahead of the 2027 general elections, promising to prioritise employment opportunities, infrastructure, security, education, healthcare and transparent representation if elected to the House of Representatives.
Under the campaign slogan, “No More Story, We Want Result 2027,” OSR said his aspiration was driven by the need to deliver measurable development and effective representation to the people of Oredo, Edo State.
The aspirant, who highlighted his international experience in the United States and Nigeria, said his legislative agenda would focus on addressing the constituency’s development challenges through effective lawmaking, strategic lobbying, federal project attraction and legislative oversight.
On employment and economic opportunities, OSR pledged to advocate for greater access to federal jobs and contracts for residents of Oredo, proposing that 30 per cent of such opportunities allocated to Edo State should go to the constituency.
He also promised to lobby for increased federal intervention and funding to support drainage infrastructure, environmental protection and the preservation of Oredo’s cultural heritage.
On security, the House of Representatives hopeful said he would support legislation and initiatives aimed at strengthening community policing and intelligence sharing to tackle cultism, kidnapping and other security challenges affecting residents.
Infrastructure and Youth Development
OSR identified road construction, drainage and technology-driven youth empowerment as key priorities of his proposed legislative agenda.
He pledged to use his oversight responsibilities to push for the completion of the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road, while also advocating for drainage projects across Oredo Federal Constituency to address flooding and improve environmental conditions.
The candidate further promised to pursue the establishment of an Oredo Technology Hub designed to train 5,000 youths in technology-related skills, with the aim of expanding employment opportunities, encouraging innovation and preparing young people for the digital economy.
He also expressed his commitment to lobbying for the realisation of the proposed Edo International Airport and Gelegele Sea Port, projects he believes could stimulate economic activities, attract investment and create employment opportunities across the state.
Education and Healthcare
In the education sector, OSR promised to attract Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) interventions to eligible educational institutions across Oredo, with particular attention to the provision of additional classrooms, laboratories and other learning facilities.
He specifically mentioned Idia College, Edo College and Emotan College among the institutions that would benefit from his proposed educational development efforts.
On healthcare, he pledged to pursue the establishment of an Oredo Federal Constituency Health Insurance Scheme, with a target of enrolling 10,000 indigent residents during his first term in office.
He also promised annual scholarships for 500 students, with particular emphasis on medicine, engineering, technology and other critical disciplines.
In addition, OSR proposed free medical care for pregnant women and residents aged above 70 years, alongside the establishment of a care home for elderly people within the constituency.
The proposed initiatives, according to his campaign agenda, are intended to improve access to essential healthcare services, reduce the financial burden on vulnerable households and expand educational opportunities for young people.
Accountability and Accessible Representation
Emphasising accountability as a central pillar of his proposed representation, OSR promised to provide quarterly reports to constituents on his legislative activities, constituency projects and development initiatives.
He also pledged to maintain a constituency office that would remain open six days a week to receive complaints, petitions, requests for assistance and enquiries about employment opportunities.
On the management of constituency intervention funds, he promised to publish details of the funds and their utilisation online and on public notice boards to promote transparency and enable residents to monitor projects and expenditures.
OSR said his proposed approach would prioritise regular engagement with constituents and ensure that their concerns remained central to his activities at the National Assembly.
'The People Are My Bosses'
Reiterating his commitment to people-centred leadership, OSR urged residents of Oredo Federal Constituency to support his ambition, presenting himself as a servant of the people rather than a politician seeking power for personal benefit.
“Na you be my oga; I be your servant,” he declared in his campaign message, emphasising his pledge to remain accountable to the electorate.
He also expressed confidence that his development agenda could help position Oredo for greater economic opportunities, improved public infrastructure and stronger social services.
Under the banner of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), OSR is seeking election to represent Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives in the 2027 general elections.
With his campaign promise, “I Sabi the Problem, I Get the Solution,” he is presenting his candidacy as an opportunity for residents to demand result-oriented leadership, transparent representation and development initiatives that directly address their needs.
