2027: OSR Unveils Development Agenda For Oredo, Promises Jobs, Better Roads, Healthcare

ADC House of Representatives Candidate Pledges Youth Empowerment, Scholarships, Improved Security and Transparent Constituency Representation

Hon. Osazee Richard (OSR), the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate for Oredo Federal Constituency in the 2027 general elections, has unveiled an ambitious development agenda centred on employment opportunities, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and accountability.

Under the campaign slogan, “No More Story, We Want Result 2027,” OSR said his legislative priorities would focus on addressing the needs of constituents and promoting sustainable development across Oredo.

The philanthropist, entrepreneur and real estate investor said he intended to draw on his experience in Nigeria and the United States to advance the interests of the people through effective representation, legislative advocacy and strategic engagement with relevant federal agencies.

Legislative Agenda and Employment Opportunities

As part of his legislative proposals, OSR pledged to advocate for a policy that would prioritise Oredo indigenes in federal employment and contract opportunities allocated to Edo State, proposing a 30 per cent share for the constituency.

He also promised to lobby for increased federal intervention in Oredo, particularly in drainage infrastructure and the protection of the area's cultural heritage.

On security, the ADC candidate said he would push for stronger legislation and institutional collaboration to improve community policing and intelligence sharing, with a view to tackling cultism, kidnapping and other security challenges.

Roads, Drainage and Technology Development

Infrastructure development features prominently in OSR's agenda, with a commitment to use his legislative oversight responsibilities to press for the completion of the Benin-Sapele-Warri Road.

He also pledged to advocate for drainage projects across Oredo Federal Constituency to address flooding and improve environmental conditions.

In the technology sector, OSR proposed the establishment of an Oredo Technology Hub designed to train 5,000 youths in digital skills and other technology-related fields.

According to his agenda, the proposed initiative would equip young people with relevant skills to improve their employability, encourage entrepreneurship and enable them to participate more effectively in the digital economy.

He further promised to lobby for the actualisation of the proposed Edo International Airport and Gelegele Sea Port, projects he believes could expand economic opportunities, stimulate investment and create employment for residents.

Education, Scholarships and Healthcare

On education, OSR said he would work to attract Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund) interventions to schools across Oredo, with particular attention to additional classrooms, science laboratories and other essential facilities.

He specifically mentioned Idia College, Edo College and Emotan College among the institutions expected to benefit from his proposed education-focused advocacy.

The ADC candidate also proposed an annual scholarship programme for 500 students, with priority given to medicine, engineering, technology and other fields considered critical to human capital development.

In the health sector, OSR pledged to pursue the establishment of an Oredo Federal Constituency Health Insurance Scheme, targeting the enrolment of 10,000 vulnerable residents during his first term if elected.

He further promised to advocate for free medical care for pregnant women and residents above 70 years of age, alongside the establishment of a care home for elderly people within the constituency.

The proposals, he said, were intended to improve access to essential services, reduce the financial burden of healthcare on vulnerable households and expand educational opportunities for young people.

Accountability and Accessible Representation

OSR also outlined an accountability framework aimed at making his proposed representation accessible to constituents and ensuring regular communication with the people.

He promised to provide quarterly reports on his activities and legislative interventions, adding that a constituency office would remain open six days a week to receive letters, petitions, complaints and requests relating to employment opportunities.

He further pledged to publish details of constituency intervention funds online and on public notice boards to promote transparency and enable residents to monitor the use of public resources.

The candidate said the proposed measures would help strengthen public confidence in elected representatives and establish a more direct relationship between the people and their representative at the National Assembly.

'The People Are My Principals'

Reaffirming his commitment to the constituency, OSR declared that his proposed representation would be driven by service, accountability and measurable development priorities.

Describing himself as a servant of the people, he urged residents to support his candidacy in the 2027 elections, expressing confidence that his agenda could contribute to improved living conditions and economic opportunities across Oredo Federal Constituency.

His campaign message, “Na You Be My Oga, I Be Your Servant,” underscores his stated commitment to people-centred leadership and regular engagement with constituents.

OSR is seeking election to represent Oredo Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the African Democratic Congress.

His proposed agenda places considerable emphasis on employment, infrastructure, education, healthcare, security and public accountability, with implementation dependent on his election, the availability of resources, relevant institutional approvals and the cooperation of other levels of government.
