2027: Aiguobarueghian Unveils Vision For Ovia’s Transformation
Hon. Charity Iguodala Aiguobarueghian, popularly known as CIA, has unveiled an ambitious development agenda for Ovia Federal Constituency in Edo State, promising to prioritise security, infrastructure, agriculture, youth empowerment and accessible healthcare if elected to the House of Representatives in 2027.
Aiguobarueghian, who is seeking election on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), said his aspiration was driven by the need to reposition Ovia Federal Constituency for sustainable development, economic growth and stronger representation at the national level.
In his campaign manifesto, titled “The Rebirth of Ovia: A Manifesto of Power, Purpose, and Absolute Transformation,” the candidate described the constituency as an area with enormous economic and human potential that requires purposeful leadership and strategic federal intervention to achieve its full potential.
He said his proposed agenda would focus on ending what he described as years of inadequate representation and replacing it with a people-centred approach that prioritises the needs of communities across the constituency.
According to him, effective representation must extend beyond political promises to include consistent engagement with constituents, strategic advocacy in Abuja and efforts to attract federal projects and development opportunities to Ovia.
On security, Aiguobarueghian pledged to advocate stronger federal attention to the constituency through technology-driven surveillance, improved security deployment and collaboration with local security networks.
He said the proposed measures would be aimed at protecting farming communities, commercial centres, transportation routes and other vulnerable areas, while creating a safer environment for residents to pursue their livelihoods.
The NDC candidate also identified infrastructure development as a major priority, promising to pursue federal budgetary allocations and strategic interventions to improve critical roads and transportation corridors connecting communities within the constituency.
He maintained that improved infrastructure would strengthen commercial activities, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and expand economic opportunities for residents.
On agriculture, Aiguobarueghian proposed a transition from subsistence farming towards a more productive and commercially driven agricultural system.
His agenda includes advocating access to improved seedlings, modern farming equipment, agricultural support programmes and direct assistance for smallholder farmers and market women.
He said strengthening agriculture would help improve food production, create employment and enhance the economic independence of rural communities.
Youth empowerment also features prominently in the manifesto, with the candidate proposing the establishment of information and communications technology (ICT) training centres and innovation hubs across the constituency.
According to him, such initiatives would equip young people with digital skills, prepare them for remote employment opportunities and encourage entrepreneurship in technology and the creative industries.
He added that young people should be supported to develop their talents and become active contributors to the local economy rather than remain dependent on limited employment opportunities.
In the health sector, Aiguobaruegharian pledged to pursue stronger partnerships with relevant federal institutions to improve healthcare infrastructure, including the establishment, rehabilitation and equipping of health facilities to serve communities across Ovia.
He said access to quality healthcare should not depend on a person's location or economic circumstances, stressing the importance of functional medical facilities and improved access to essential health services.
The candidate further emphasised inclusivity, promising to advocate development interventions that reflect the needs of communities across the constituency, including upland and riverine settlements.
He said his proposed legislative agenda would be guided by the principle that every community deserves attention in the allocation of public resources and the formulation of development policies.
Calling on residents of Ovia Federal Constituency, including those in the diaspora, to support his aspiration, Aiguobaruegharian described the 2027 election as an opportunity to pursue a new direction in representation and community development.
He expressed confidence that a combination of legislative advocacy, strategic partnerships and sustained engagement with constituents could help unlock the constituency's economic potential.
Under the banner of his campaign organisation, CIA Media, the candidate is presenting his aspiration as a movement for inclusive development, stronger federal representation and improved opportunities for residents.
His campaign slogan reads: “Ignite the Future. Reclaim Our Destiny.”
Aiguobaruegharian is seeking the mandate of the people of Ovia Federal Constituency to represent them in the House of Representatives in 2027 on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress.
