The Village Knows — Leghemo Pledges People-Centred Representation For Southern Ijaw
The NDC House of Representatives candidate for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency, Diepreye Abaye Leghemo (DAL), has pledged to pursue responsive, sustainable and people-centred representation if elected to represent the constituency at the Federal level.
Leghemo made the commitment while appealing to the people of Southern Ijaw to support his aspiration ahead of the January 16, 2027 election.
According to him, the people of the constituency are fully aware of those who only return to their communities when elections are approaching, as well as those who remember their communities only during campaign periods.
He said the people are no longer interested in empty promises but in representation that remembers their concerns and ensures that their voices are carried beyond their communities and Bayelsa State to the Federal level, where critical decisions affecting their lives are made.
“The village knows who comes around only when an election is near. The village also knows who remembers the road after the campaign posters have disappeared,” Leghemo stated.
He stressed that his vision for Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency is centred on responsive and sustainable development, rather than politics driven by noise and campaign rhetoric.
“Not representation built around noise, but representation built around responsive, sustainable development and people-centred leadership,” he said.
Leghemo therefore called on the people of Southern Ijaw Federal Constituency to join him in the journey to build a stronger voice for the constituency at the National Assembly.
He expressed confidence that, with collective support, the concerns and aspirations of the various communities in Southern Ijaw can receive stronger representation and attention at the Federal level.
The NDC candidate urged the electorate to look beyond campaign promises and support a representation focused on ensuring that the needs and voices of the people remain at the centre of legislative engagement.
