Oredo Stakeholder Rejects Call For Suspension Of NDC LGA Assistant Publicity Secretary

A stakeholder of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Oredo Local Government Area, Bliss Empress, has rejected a recommendation calling for the immediate suspension of the party’s LGA Assistant Publicity Secretary, Barr. Okhilua Osadebamwen Spartacus.

Empress, in a rejoinder dated September 26, 2026, described the recommendation attributed to the Oredo LGA Chairman, Mr. Tam Odiase, as “malicious and self-serving,” alleging that it was motivated by a personal disagreement rather than genuine party disciplinary concerns.

According to her, the dispute arose from an Oredo LGA Executive meeting held on September 23, 2026, during which Spartacus reportedly raised concerns about the conduct of the LGA chairman.

She alleged that Spartacus questioned what she described as repeated negative comments by the chairman about members of the LGA Executive Council at public functions, including a meeting with Oredo LGA candidates.

Empress further alleged that the exchange became heated after Odiase allegedly referred to Spartacus as a “cursed human being,” prompting Spartacus to respond in kind.

She argued that the incident should not be viewed in isolation, maintaining that the exchange followed what she described as an “unprovoked” verbal attack by the chairman.

The stakeholder also disputed allegations that Spartacus had a history of abusive conduct, describing him as a public commentator and writer who, according to her, has consistently addressed public issues through articles and rejoinders.

She further claimed that Spartacus had previously channelled formal complaints through the appropriate party structures rather than taking internal matters to the public.

Empress questioned the procedure adopted in seeking Spartacus’s suspension, asking why the matter was not first referred to the appropriate organs of the party for consideration.

She also questioned the circumstances surrounding the alleged recommendation, particularly the call for Spartacus’s removal from online platforms at a time when political activities and preparations for the coming campaign season are intensifying.

The Oredo stakeholder urged the relevant leadership of the NDC to examine the circumstances surrounding the dispute and the conduct of all parties involved.

She maintained that the suspension recommendation should not be allowed to stand without proper consideration by the appropriate party structures.

“We, the stakeholders of Oredo Local Government, stand firmly with Barr. Spartacus,” Empress stated, urging the party leadership to investigate the matter and ensure that due process is followed.

The rejoinder concluded by calling on party members and the public to treat the allegations against Spartacus as disputed pending appropriate consideration by the relevant party authorities.
