Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Builder Prince Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, has flagged off a three-day capacity-building workshop for newly inaugurated Local Government Chairmen, Vice Chairmen, Development Centre Coordinators and other principal officers in the state.

The workshop, which is holding in Abakaliki, the Ebonyi State capital, was formally declared open by the Governor alongside his deputy, Princess Patricia Onyemaechi Obila, GCEHF.
The training is designed to equip the newly inaugurated grassroots leaders with the administrative skills, leadership capacity and institutional knowledge required for effective management of public offices and delivery of quality services to the people.

According to the organisers, the workshop will focus on contemporary administrative practices, financial discipline, fiscal responsibility, transparency and accountability in the discharge of official responsibilities.
The flag-off ceremony attracted members of the State Executive Council, senior government officials and other stakeholders, reflecting the importance attached by the state government to effective grassroots governance.

Speaking at the event, Governor Nwifuru reiterated his administration's commitment to strengthening the local government system and ensuring that governance and development are taken closer to the people.
He said the initiative was part of efforts to build a responsive and people-oriented grassroots administration capable of driving sustainable development across communities in Ebonyi State.

The capacity-building programme is expected to provide the newly inaugurated local government and development centre officials with the knowledge and practical tools required to effectively discharge their responsibilities and contribute to the administration's development agenda.
