NDC Publicity Secretary Tasks Members On Voter Education, Grassroots Mobilisation Ahead Of 2027

The State Publicity Secretary of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Niger State Chapter, David Timothy, has charged party members and stakeholders to intensify critical engagement, voter education and grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Timothy gave the charge in a statement issued on Wednesday, September 16, 2026, following the successful completion of the party’s governorship substitution primary election, which produced Alhaji Yahaya Muhammed Adam Guregi as the NDC governorship candidate in Niger State.

He described the emergence of Guregi as only the first step in the party’s journey towards the 2027 elections, stressing that winning the confidence and support of Nigerlites would require sacrifice, strategic planning and sustained grassroots engagement.

The NDC spokesman urged party members to adopt an issue-based approach to political engagement by focusing on the challenges confronting residents across the state and presenting the party’s proposed solutions to them.

According to him, party members should engage farmers, parents, youths, traditional rulers, religious leaders, trade unions, students and market women respectfully, while communicating the policies and programmes of the NDC and its governorship candidate.

Timothy also called for intensive voter education across the state, particularly at the ward and polling-unit levels. He said voters should be educated on how to obtain and protect their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), avoid selling their votes, cast their ballots correctly and defend their votes within the provisions of the law.

He further urged the party’s zonal, local government and ward executives to strengthen their grassroots structures by returning to their respective polling units, compiling unit registers and identifying credible polling-unit representatives.

The publicity secretary advocated door-to-door, face-to-face and house-to-house mobilisation, urging every NDC member to take responsibility for mobilising new supporters ahead of the election.

He said the party’s Publicity Directorate would provide publicity materials, including flyers, jingles and other campaign content, while members at the grassroots would be required to take the message directly to the people.

Timothy also appealed to members to put aside personal grievances and work together as a united party, describing unity and sustained grassroots mobilisation as essential to the party’s campaign ahead of 2027.

He expressed confidence in the party’s governorship candidate, Alhaji Yahaya Muhammed Adam Guregi, describing him as a candidate whose policies and programmes the party intends to present to Nigerlites.

“Winning the ticket was the first step; winning the hearts of Nigerlites and emerging victorious in the 2027 general elections is the glorious task ahead of us,” Timothy stated.

He called on all members and stakeholders of the NDC in Niger State to remain committed to the party’s campaign and grassroots activities as preparations for the 2027 general elections gather momentum.
