Leo Ekene Oketa: The New Media Aide Raising The Bar In Nwifuru's Administration

Mr. Leo Ekene Oketa, Special Assistant to Ebonyi State Governor, Rt. Hon. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, on New Media, has continued to strengthen his profile as one of the administration’s active voices in the digital communication space.

Appointed to the position in 2023, Oketa has remained involved in communicating the policies, programmes and activities of the Nwifuru administration through new media platforms. His role has seen him provide public information on government initiatives while also responding to issues that attract public attention.

He has also featured prominently in the government’s response to public issues. In July 2026, Oketa addressed controversy surrounding an incident involving the governor’s convoy, urging the public not to draw conclusions before the facts were fully established. His response was subsequently reported by Vanguard.

Beyond responding to issues, Oketa has consistently used digital platforms to highlight the administration’s development agenda. His recent communications have focused on areas including education, infrastructure and human capital development, including the construction of modern schools across Ebonyi State.
His activities reflect the increasingly important role of new media in modern governance, where timely communication, digital engagement and effective presentation of government policies have become essential tools for connecting administrations with citizens.

For Oketa, the recognition and awards received along the way appear to have become additional motivation to sustain his performance. Rather than resting on previous achievements, he has continued to remain active in the communication of the Nwifuru administration’s programmes and positions.

With consistency, commitment and an increasingly visible role in the state’s digital communication space, Leo Ekene Oketa continues to raise the bar in New Media and contribute to the communication machinery of the Ebonyi State Government.
