Gisaor Inspects Benue Liaison Office In Abuja, Decries Poor State Of Facilities
The Executive Director, Housing Finance and Account, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Dr. Vincent Iorja Gisaor, has inspected the Benue State Liaison Office in Abuja, expressing concern over the poor state of infrastructure and the slow pace of ongoing renovation works at the facility and the Governor’s Lodge.
Dr. Gisaor, who interacted with staff of the Liaison Office during the inspection, observed that some of the renovation projects had been abandoned by contractors, thereby leaving parts of the facilities in a state of disrepair.
He urged the Benue State Government to prevail on the contractors handling the projects to return to site and complete the renovation works within the shortest possible time.
According to him, completing the projects would enable the Liaison Office to provide better and more befitting services to Benue citizens residing in Abuja, as well as those visiting or passing through the Federal Capital Territory.
The FHA Executive Director also called on the Benue State Government to appoint a substantive Director-General for the Liaison Office to provide effective leadership and ensure proper coordination and management of its affairs.
He stressed that strong leadership was essential to enabling the office to effectively fulfil its mandate and serve the interests of the people of Benue State in Abuja.
Welcoming Dr. Gisaor to the office, the Director of Administration and Supply (DAS), Mr. T. S. Nyiutsa, appreciated him for the visit and explained that the Liaison Office provides accommodation and mediation services on behalf of the Benue State Government.
Nyiutsa assured that the staff of the office remained committed to serving the interests of Benue people in Abuja and those transiting through the Federal Capital Territory.
He further disclosed that there was a cordial working relationship among staff members and pledged their continued commitment, hard work and dedication to duty.
In separate remarks, the Accountant of the office, Mr. Thomas Okwunjor, and the Administrative Officer, Mr. Emmanuel Igbegbe, expressed appreciation to Dr. Gisaor for the visit and his interest in the affairs of the Liaison Office.
The Liaison Office also solicited the support of the Federal Housing Authority in providing affordable and accessible housing infrastructure for staff of the Benue State Government in Abuja.
