FON Media Aide Counsels Ebonyi Guber Aspirant On Home-Based Investment

The Special Assistant to the Ebonyi State Governor on Media, Ebere Ania Adaolaedo, has advised businessman and Ebonyi governorship aspirant, Charity Anyichuks, to demonstrate his commitment to the development of the state through investments at home before aspiring to govern it.

Adaolaedo gave the advice in a statement titled, “Must First Build At Home Before Aspiring To Build A State: A Wise Counsel To An Ill-Prepared Ambition,” in which he questioned the basis of Anyichuks’ advocacy for economic prosperity and calls for wealthy investors to invest in Ebonyi.

According to him, the principle of “charity begins at home” should apply to political leadership, arguing that individuals seeking to govern the state should have demonstrable records of contribution and investment within their communities.

The governor’s aide acknowledged Anyichuks’ achievements in the business world, describing his success as commendable, but maintained that success in business does not automatically translate into experience or capacity in governance.

“Success in business does not automatically translate to capacity in governance,” Adaolaedo stated, stressing that governance requires service, sacrifice, experience and an understanding of the needs and aspirations of the people.

He further advised Anyichuks to gain political and legislative experience at the grassroots, suggesting that participation in the State House of Assembly could provide an opportunity to understand lawmaking, grassroots engagement and the responsibilities of public leadership.

Adaolaedo also defended the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, saying the government had continued to implement projects and programmes aimed at improving the lives of Ebonyians.

He cited road construction, youth empowerment and other interventions as evidence of the governor’s commitment to the people, while asserting that residents of the state were peaceful and supportive of the administration.

“Ebonyi is a work in progress,” he said, adding that the state requires leadership with an understanding of the experiences, aspirations and realities of its people.

The governor’s aide urged Anyichuks to continue pursuing his business interests and contributing to society through the private sector, but maintained that political leadership should be entrusted to individuals with relevant experience and demonstrated commitment to the development of the state.

He concluded by reaffirming his support for Governor Nwifuru and the administration’s People’s Charter of Needs agenda.

“FON is working. FON till 2031,” Adaolaedo stated.
