BIBI Backs Dickson, Calls For Unity, Respect For NDC Structure

Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly know as BIBI, NDC candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, has thrown his weight behind the position of the National Leader of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Senator Henry Seriake Dickson, on the role of the Obi-Kwankwaso (OK) Movement in the party's 2027 campaign structure.

BIBI said the NDC, as the political party providing the platform for its candidates, must remain the central structure around which the campaign is organised, while support movements and groups should work together with the party towards the common objective.

His position followed Dickson's recent criticism of the decision by the OK Movement to constitute a separate 59-member Presidential Campaign Council for the 2027 election.

Dickson argued that support groups should complement the political party by mobilising grassroots support rather than establish structures that compete with the party's official campaign machinery. The NDC has also formally dissociated itself from the OK Movement's announced campaign council, saying the structure was not authorised by the party.

BIBI said Dickson's position should be understood as a call for order, coordination and unity rather than an attempt to discourage the contributions of support groups.

According to him, the various groups working for the success of the Peter Obi and Rabiu Kwankwaso ticket have important roles to play, but those roles should strengthen rather than weaken the political platform under which the candidates are contesting.

“We must all work together as one family. The NDC is the party and the platform. Every support group has an important role to play, but we must ensure that our individual efforts strengthen the party and do not create unnecessary divisions.”

BIBI commended Senator Dickson for speaking out on the matter and urged party members, candidates and supporters to remain focused on the larger objective of building a strong and united political movement ahead of the 2027 elections.

He stressed that differences of opinion should not be allowed to overshadow the common purpose that brought the various groups and individuals together.

While the OK Movement has maintained that it is independently organised and does not intend to surrender its structures to the NDC, its leadership has also said it supports the Obi-Kwankwaso ticket.

BIBI therefore called for dialogue, mutual respect and greater coordination among the NDC leadership, candidates and support groups.

He said the success of the party's candidates should remain the priority, adding that all stakeholders must work together as a family and avoid actions capable of creating unnecessary friction.

“The NDC is our political platform. Let us respect the party, support our candidates and work together. There is room for everyone who genuinely wants to contribute to the success of the movement. What we need now is unity, discipline and collective commitment to the task ahead.”

BIBI's comments come as the NDC prepares to inaugurate its official Presidential Campaign Council, following the disagreement over the separate structure announced by the OK Movement.
