Agbonayima’s Suit Against Bibi Over Edo South NDC Primary Victory Adjourned To November 26

A suit filed before the Federal High Court in Abuja by Hon. E.J. Agbonayima challenging the emergence of Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as Bibi, as the winner of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) Edo South Senatorial District primary has been adjourned for judgment to November 26, 2026.

Agbonayima had approached the court to challenge Bibi’s victory at the NDC Edo South Senatorial District primary.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Hon. Bibi said documents filed in the case, including Certified True Copies (CTCs) of primary election documents and affidavits, support his position that he won the primary and was duly declared the candidate.

He said the documents tendered before the court provide evidence of the conduct and outcome of the primary election, including the roles of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other electoral officials who monitored the exercise.
According to Bibi, the evidence presented before the court further validates his victory at the primary.

“Notwithstanding the Plaintiff’s claims, the totality of the evidence, including the CTCs of the primary results and the affidavits tendered, gives credence to our case,” he said.

Bibi also urged supporters across the seven local government areas of Edo South to remain calm, hopeful and steadfast while awaiting the court’s decision.
He expressed confidence that the legal dispute would be resolved when the court delivers its judgment on November 26, 2026.

He further called on his supporters to continue supporting the NDC and its presidential candidate, Mr. Peter Obi.

Hon. Sunny Aguebor, popularly known as Bibi, maintains that he remains the validly nominated NDC candidate for Edo South Senatorial District, pending the determination of the matter before the court.
