Abubarka Congratulates Three Newly Sworn-in Edo North Council Chairmen
Former Local Government Chairman Aspirant, Hon. Tijani Abubarka JP, has congratulated the newly sworn-in chairmen of Etsako Central, Etsako East and Etsako West Local Government Areas of Edo State on their successful assumption of office.
Abubarka, in a congratulatory message, described their emergence and swearing-in as an important milestone for grassroots administration in Edo North, urging the new council bosses to justify the confidence reposed in them by the electorate through purposeful and people-oriented leadership.
The three chairmen—Dame Vera Sadoh of Etsako Central, Hon. Sunny Ekpeson of Etsako East and Omoike Romeo Aloaye of Etsako West—were among the 18 newly elected local government chairmen sworn into office by Governor Monday Okpebholo at the Government House in Benin City on Friday.
The inauguration followed the July 11, 2026 local government elections in which the All Progressives Congress (APC) won all 18 chairmanship and 192 councillorship positions across the state, according to the Edo State Independent Electoral Commission (EDSIEC).
In his message, Abubarka said the new chairmen had assumed office at a time when the people expected visible development, improved service delivery and responsive governance at the grassroots.
He urged them to lead with integrity, humility, fairness and accountability, while prioritising projects and programmes capable of improving the lives of residents in their respective local government areas.
According to him, their administrations should focus on areas such as road infrastructure, education, healthcare, youth and women empowerment, agriculture, security and economic opportunities, while maintaining close engagement with traditional institutions, community leaders and residents.
Abubarka also called on the chairmen to work harmoniously with the Edo State Government and other stakeholders to ensure that the benefits of government reach communities across Edo North.
His congratulatory message comes against the backdrop of Governor Okpebholo's charge to the newly sworn-in council chairmen to shun corruption, serve with humility and integrity, and prioritise grassroots development. The governor stressed that the people had entrusted them with leadership and urged them to justify that trust through good governance and visible development.
Abubarka prayed that God would grant the three chairmen wisdom, courage, strength and understanding to successfully discharge the responsibilities of their offices.
He expressed optimism that their tenure would usher in greater development, peace, unity, empowerment and improved opportunities for the people of Etsako Central, Etsako East and Etsako West.
"Congratulations once again to the distinguished chairmen. May your tenure be peaceful, impactful and remembered for meaningful contributions to the development of Edo North," he said.
