2027: NDC Edo South Candidate Bibi Urges Voters To Choose Candidates Over Parties
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) senatorial candidate for Edo South, Hon. Sunday Aguebor, popularly known as BIBI, has urged voters to make individual candidates, rather than political party affiliation, the major consideration in the 2027 general elections.
Aguebor made the call in a statement, stressing that Nigerians must critically examine the character, competence, capacity, integrity, credibility and track record of candidates before deciding who deserves their votes.
His position comes as political activities intensify ahead of the 2027 elections, with Aguebor campaigning for the Edo South Senatorial seat under the NDC platform.
According to him, years of voting largely on the basis of party affiliation have contributed to situations where elected officials make promises during campaigns but fail to fulfil basic commitments after assuming office.
He said the consequences include poor governance, inadequate infrastructure, underdevelopment and limited opportunities for citizens and communities.
Aguebor said the political experience of Edo State should serve as a lesson to voters, arguing that party loyalty without accountability, competence and effective leadership cannot guarantee meaningful development.
He therefore urged the electorate to ask critical questions about every candidate seeking their mandate in 2027.
“What has this candidate achieved in the past? What is his or her record of service? Does the candidate possess the competence and integrity required to lead? What has the candidate contributed to the development of our people? Can we trust this individual with public resources and responsibility?” he asked.
The Edo South senatorial candidate maintained that elected representatives must understand that their primary responsibility is to represent and defend the interests of the people who entrusted them with their mandate.
He said lawmakers should be prepared to speak for their constituents, pursue meaningful development, demand accountability and place the welfare of the people above partisan interests.
Aguebor described the 2027 election as an opportunity for Nigerians to demand a higher standard of political leadership by focusing on character, competence, capacity, credibility, integrity and proven performance.
He urged voters to choose leaders capable of delivering tangible results rather than candidates who simply make campaign promises.
“Our loyalty should ultimately be to the people and their development, not merely to political parties,” he said.
He further called on voters to put people before party, development before political loyalty and performance before propaganda.
Aguebor's message is being promoted as part of his “Operation Sunny Aguebor aka BIBI for Senate” campaign for the Edo South Senatorial District ahead of the 2027 general elections.
He concluded with a call for voters to make their ballots a reflection of their demand for good governance by voting for competence, integrity, performance, development and candidates who can effectively represent the people.
