Team ADO Celebrates Adeleke’s Osun Victory, Says “People’s Light Has Prevailed”

The Team ADO Campaign Organisation, supporting the senatorial ambition of Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu for the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in 2027, has congratulated Osun State Governor, Senator Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, on his victory in the August 15, 2026 governorship election.

In a solidarity message, Team ADO described Adeleke’s re-election as a significant victory for democracy and a demonstration of the power of the people at the ballot box.

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke, who contested on the platform of the Accord Party, winner of the election after he secured 511,067 votes, defeating his closest challenger, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, who polled 444,815 votes. Adeleke also won 19 of the state's 30 Local Government Areas.

Reacting to the outcome, Team ADO celebrated Adeleke as the “Iconic Founder of the IMOLE slogan,” describing his victory as a moment of encouragement for Nigerians who believe in democratic participation, political change and the power of popular support.

“Congratulations to His Excellency, Governor Ademola Nurudeen Jackson Adeleke, on a well-deserved victory! The people’s light has prevailed.”

The group said the outcome of the Osun election goes beyond the political fortunes of one individual or state, arguing that it carries broader significance for opposition politics and Nigeria's democratic development.

According to Team ADO, the result demonstrates that voters remain willing to support candidates and political movements they believe can represent their interests, regardless of the strength of established political structures.

The organisation further described the victory as an encouragement to political actors committed to people-oriented leadership, accountability and democratic participation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

The congratulatory message also aligns with Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu's campaign emphasis on people-centred representation, justice, equity, infrastructure, healthcare and inclusive development in the FCT.

Ado Iliyasu, the NDC candidate for the FCT Senate, has consistently presented his 2027 ambition as a campaign for a “Fresh Air” in FCT representation, with particular emphasis on giving residents across the six Area Councils a stronger voice in national decision-making.

Team ADO therefore called on its supporters and Nigerians committed to democratic change to remain hopeful and engaged in the political process.
