Peace, Unity Key To Benue’s Sustainable Development — Gisaor

The Executive Director, Housing Finance and Account, Federal Housing Authority (FHA), Dr. Vincent Iorja Gisaor, has called on the people of Benue State to embrace peace, unity and reconciliation as critical ingredients for achieving sustainable development.

Gisaor made the call on Saturday while featuring on Radio Benue’s “On the Line” programme, where he stressed the need to bridge existing political and social divisions within the All Progressives Congress (APC) and across other political tendencies in the state.

He said his current efforts were focused on promoting peace, reconciliation and mutual understanding among the various groups and stakeholders in Benue, adding that he would continue to contribute to efforts aimed at restoring unity in the state.

Speaking on how his appointment to the FHA could benefit the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Hyacinth Iormem Alia, Gisaor said he had already begun using his position to attract federal interventions, housing projects and other development opportunities to Benue.

According to him, the Federal Housing Estate at Agbaaye is expected to commence within the next two weeks following interventions to resolve issues that had delayed the project.

He also disclosed plans to pursue the revival of the abandoned Renewed Hope Housing Estate being implemented by the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.

Gisaor said he would engage the Minister of Housing and Urban Development to explore ways of ensuring that work resumes at the project site.

The FHA executive director expressed appreciation to President Tinubu for finding him worthy of appointment, while also thanking Governor Alia for facilitating the opportunity for him to serve at the federal level.

He described his appointment as an opportunity to represent the interests of Benue people and Nigerians in general, promising to work toward attracting employment opportunities for youths and facilitating access to legitimate contracts for qualified individuals and businesses.

Gisaor, however, urged young people in the state to shun social vices and acquire relevant skills that would enable them to take advantage of employment and entrepreneurship opportunities.

Gisaor Commends Alia’s Administration

Assessing the performance of Governor Alia, Gisaor commended the governor for what he described as remarkable achievements within his first three years in office.

He rated Alia’s performance highly, saying the governor had performed beyond reasonable doubt and deserved a second term to consolidate the achievements of his administration.

Gisaor pledged to continue supporting initiatives capable of helping the Alia administration achieve greater results in the years ahead.

He also expressed appreciation to Governor Alia for appointing him as Secretary of the Benue State Independent Electoral Commission (BSIEC), describing the appointment as an opportunity that provided him with valuable administrative experience and prepared him for greater responsibilities.

He equally appreciated his former colleagues at BSIEC, describing his time with the commission as a rewarding experience.

Callers Seek More Federal Projects for Benue

Callers who participated in the programme, including Terkfa Ikyuluke, Emeka Anyougwo, Thaddeus Mata and Terkura, urged Gisaor to remain a good ambassador of Benue State and use his position at the federal level to attract more development to the state.

They particularly appealed to him to sustain efforts toward the completion of the Federal Housing Estate at Agbaaye and pursue the establishment of additional federal housing estates across the country’s 774 local government areas.

Gisaor reiterated his commitment to serving diligently, promoting peace and unity, and using his office to attract meaningful development opportunities to Benue State and Nigeria.
