Ondaje Commends Andrew Abah’s Withdrawal From NDC Guber Race, Urges Party Unity Ahead Of 2027

Hon. Emmanuel Ondaje Stephen, House of Assembly candidate for Otukpo/Akpa State Constituency, Benue State, has commended Engr. Andrew Abah for his decision to withdraw from the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) gubernatorial race ahead of the 2027 general election.

In a statement issued following Engr. Abah’s announcement, Ondaje described the decision as a demonstration of uncommon leadership, sacrifice, and commitment to the unity and progress of the party.

He noted that Engr. Abah’s decision to place the interest of the party above personal ambition, after months of consultations and grassroots engagements, reflected integrity and courage, adding that his efforts and vision for a better Benue State had been acknowledged by the people.

“While we may be disappointed that his vision for a new Benue will not be on the ballot as governor, we are encouraged that his passion for security, infrastructure, employment opportunities, and prudent leadership remains with our party,” Ondaje stated.

The lawmaker hopeful praised Engr. Abah for his statesmanship and resilience, while also appreciating the National Working Committee (NWC) of the NDC, led by Senator Cleopas Zuwe, for managing the alignment process in the interest of the party.

Ondaje further called on party leaders, members, and supporters to remain united, stressing that the decision to zone the governorship ticket to Zone A was a collective party decision that required the support of all stakeholders.

He urged members to rally behind whoever emerges as the party’s governorship candidate, expressing confidence that unity and commitment would position the NDC for victory in Benue State in 2027.

“Engr. Abah, thank you for the dream and for the courage. We need men like you in the trenches as we build a new Benue,” Ondaje said.

He reaffirmed his commitment to working with Engr. Abah and the eventual NDC governorship candidate to secure victory for the party in Otukpo/Akpa and across Benue State.

“Together, we will succeed. God bless NDC. God bless Benue State,” he added.
