Ochei Calls For New Political Direction As 2027 Campaigns Begin In Delta North

Rt. Hon. (Engr.) Victor O. Ochei, Esq., FNSE, the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Delta North Senatorial District in the 2027 general elections, has called on the people of Anioma to embrace a new political direction focused on capacity, accountability and purposeful representation.

Ochei made the call in a statement marking the official commencement of political campaigns for the 2027 presidential and National Assembly elections.

Addressing the people of Delta North, Ochei said the district was at a crossroads and could no longer afford to be driven by familiar political patterns, calculations and the preservation of existing arrangements.

He explained that his decision to contest the Senate election followed careful consideration and calls from the people, noting that the NDC formally cleared his candidacy for Delta North in July 2026.

According to him, the election goes beyond securing a single Senate seat, stressing that it presents an opportunity to establish a new political direction for Delta North and support all NDC candidates contesting for the Senate, House of Representatives and State House of Assembly.

He also pledged to work with the NDC candidate for Governor of Delta State, Deacon Chris Iyovwaye, in pursuit of the party's broader political objectives in the state.

At the national level, Ochei expressed support for the NDC presidential candidate, Peter Obi, describing his candidacy as representing prudence, accountability, simplicity, order and responsible management of public resources.

He argued that leadership experience should be measured not by eloquence alone but by how effectively individuals utilise the responsibilities entrusted to them, citing Obi's tenure as Governor of Anambra State and the recognition his administration received for prudence and public-sector performance.

Ochei further described the coming together of political forces that now constitute the NDC, including structures associated with the OK Movement, as an opportunity to build a broader political platform capable of winning elections and governing with purpose.

He therefore urged the people of Delta North to partner with the NDC in advancing what he described as a "New Direction" for the district.

"Let us move from politics of dependency to politics of capacity; from survival to purposeful representation; and from what has always been to what can be," he said.

"This is our moment. This is our mission. This is the New Direction."

Ochei concluded by urging voters across Delta North to support the NDC candidates in the 2027 elections.
