Benue State Governor, Rev. Fr. Dr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, has celebrated the youths of the state, describing them as vibrant, resilient and central to the development and future of Benue.

The Governor made the remarks in a message to commemorate International Youth Day 2026, observed globally on Wednesday.

Governor Alia said that while Benue remains proudly recognised as the Food Basket of the Nation, the state's greatest harvest extends beyond its fertile soil to include the energy, creativity, resilience and talents of its young people.

According to him, the contributions of Benue youths cut across various sectors, from hardworking farmers and technology innovators to creatives, entrepreneurs and athletes, with their diverse pursuits united by a shared aspiration for a greater and more prosperous future.

He urged the youths to remain courageous and united in confronting the challenges before them, stressing that their voices and actions carry the hope of building a peaceful, inclusive and prosperous Benue.

The Governor also encouraged young people in the state to embrace healthy lifestyles and shun acts capable of causing public disorder, social unrest and civil strife.

He further noted that the voices and contributions of Benue youths continue to play an important role in shaping governance, driving digital transformation and advancing development in the state and beyond.

Governor Alia reaffirmed his administration's recognition of the youths as important partners in the development of Benue, urging them to harness their talents, remain focused and contribute positively to the growth of the state.
