De-General Gains Momentum As Etsako Residents Rally Behind Yakubu For 2027
A growing political movement is taking shape across Etsako Federal Constituency as supporters of Chief Engr. Braimah Oshiomah Yakubu, popularly known as “De-General,” rally behind his bid to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives on the platform of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in the 2027 general election.
The emerging campaign is anchored on a message of development, economic empowerment, security and inclusive representation, with supporters describing Yakubu as a leader capable of taking the interests of Etsako to the National Assembly.
Yakubu's candidacy has also received formal political backing, following his emergence as the ADC candidate for Etsako Federal Constituency during the party's 2026 candidate-selection process. Reports indicate that he secured 10,228 votes, making him the party's candidate for the constituency.
Known among his supporters as “De-General,” Yakubu is being presented as a grassroots-oriented politician whose ambition is to extend his service and development efforts across the three local government areas that make up Etsako Federal Constituency.
His supporters say the campaign is not simply about winning an election but about creating a stronger economic and social future for the people. Central to the message are demands for improved security, better roads, quality education, women's empowerment, agricultural development and an economy that creates opportunities for young people and families.
According to the campaign message, Etsako must move beyond being a passive participant in economic development and become a creator, owner and driver of its own economic destiny.
The emphasis on roads and agriculture is particularly significant, as improved transportation infrastructure can strengthen the connection between farming communities, markets and consumers, while creating opportunities for greater local production and commerce.
Supporters are equally placing youth and women at the centre of the proposed development agenda, arguing that meaningful representation must translate into practical opportunities, skills development, entrepreneurship and economic inclusion.
The campaign's message is therefore built around the belief that political leadership should be measured not merely by promises but by the ability to convert ideas into tangible improvements in the lives of constituents.
“De-General we know, the leader we want!” has consequently become a rallying expression among supporters who believe Yakubu represents an opportunity for a new direction in Etsako's political representation.
The candidate's supporters are calling on residents across Etsako to take ownership of the political process by participating actively, mobilising voters and demanding issue-based representation.
They maintain that the future of Etsako cannot be left to chance, insisting that the constituency requires a representative who will make its development needs a priority at the federal level.
As the 2027 election approaches, Yakubu's campaign is positioning the contest as a choice between maintaining the status quo and pursuing a new development-oriented political direction.
For the “De-General” movement, the message is straightforward: support, mobilise, vote and protect the democratic mandate.
Yakubu is seeking election to the House of Representatives for Etsako Federal Constituency under the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in 2027. His emergence is part of a wider effort by the ADC in Edo to field candidates across the state's federal constituencies ahead of the election.
With the campaign now gathering momentum, attention will increasingly turn to how effectively the candidate and his supporters can translate the movement's aspirations into a broad-based political programme capable of addressing the everyday concerns of the people of Etsako.
For supporters of “De-General,” however, the objective remains clear: a more secure, productive, prosperous and inclusive Etsako, driven by the people and represented with purpose.
