Continuity Beckons As Supporters Rally Behind Omoruyi Ahead Of Campaign Opening

With the official campaign opening drawing closer, supporters of Hon. Murphy Osaro Omoruyi have begun mobilising for his re-election bid, calling for continuity and sustained representation for the people of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency.

The growing mobilisation is being driven by the conviction among his supporters that the constituency should retain an experienced voice at the National Assembly, with the campaign message centred on “4+4 Ogbane” and a renewed mandate for continuity.

Omoruyi, who currently represents Egor/Ikpoba-Okha Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, was elected in 2023 on the platform of the Labour Party. His victory was subsequently affirmed by the election tribunal after petitions challenging the outcome were dismissed.

Since assuming office, the lawmaker has participated in legislative proceedings and constituency-related interventions, including presenting petitions on issues affecting communities and residents within his constituency. Records of the National Assembly show his involvement in petitions concerning matters affecting communities in Benin City and other issues requiring federal attention.

In November 2024, reports also indicated that Omoruyi awarded scholarships worth ₦10 million to students from Edo State, an intervention presented as part of efforts to support education and young people.

The lawmaker's political journey also took a new turn in January 2026 when he left the Labour Party for the African Democratic Congress (ADC). He explained that the decision followed the prolonged crisis within the Labour Party and said it was also in response to the demands of his constituents.

As preparations intensify for the campaign season, supporters are positioning the proposed re-election as a choice between continuity and a change in representation.

The message from the emerging mobilisation is clear: “The time is getting ripe.” Supporters are being urged to prepare for the formal commencement of the campaign and to consolidate their support around the call for another term.

For the movement, “4+4 Ogbane” is not merely a campaign slogan but a declaration of confidence in Omoruyi's representation and a demand for continuity in the service of Egor/Ikpoba-Okha.

With the campaign opening approaching, political observers will be watching closely as the incumbent seeks to build on his first-term record, strengthen his grassroots structure and convince constituents that he deserves another mandate.

The countdown has begun.
