Benue Has Left Egypt, Don't Look Back, Alia's CPS Urges Residents

The Chief Press Secretary to the Governor of Benue State, Sir Tersoo Kula, has called on the people of the state to remain steadfast in their support for Governor Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Iormem Alia, urging them not to be distracted by what he described as campaigns of misinformation and propaganda aimed at undermining the administration's achievements.

In a press statement issued on Monday to mark the beginning of a new workweek, Kula expressed appreciation to the people of Benue for their resilience, prayers, and continued support for the Alia administration, saying their commitment has been instrumental to the government's ongoing efforts to reposition the state.

According to him, meaningful transformation is often met with resistance, especially from individuals who benefited from years of stagnation and institutional decline. He noted that the current administration anticipated opposition from entrenched interests uncomfortable with reforms centred on transparency, accountability, and people-focused governance.

The governor's spokesman said the government's achievements across critical sectors speak for themselves and cannot be overshadowed by false narratives. He highlighted ongoing road construction projects across the state's three geopolitical zones, investments in education through the renovation and construction of schools, the recruitment of more than 9,000 education personnel, improvements in healthcare infrastructure, housing development, agricultural reforms, security interventions, youth employment initiatives, civil service reforms, and efforts to revive state-owned enterprises.

He described these projects as visible evidence of the administration's commitment to improving the lives of the people rather than mere campaign promises.

Kula acknowledged that Benue still faces significant developmental challenges but stressed that these are the result of years of neglect inherited by the present administration. He maintained that within three years, Governor Alia has worked to restore public confidence, rebuild critical infrastructure, strengthen government institutions, and establish a foundation for sustainable growth.

While admitting that more work remains to be done, he called on all Benue sons and daughters, regardless of political affiliation, ethnicity, or religion, to unite behind the administration in the interest of the state's progress.

Using a biblical analogy, Kula declared that "Benue has departed Egypt" and urged residents not to be persuaded to return to what he described as an era of hardship and underdevelopment. He encouraged citizens to reject divisive narratives, safeguard the gains already recorded, and support the ongoing reforms.

He also appealed to the people to continue praying for Governor Alia, asking God to grant him wisdom, strength, and protection as he leads the state through what he described as a period of renewal and transformation.

Kula concluded by wishing the people of Benue a productive and successful workweek while reaffirming the administration's commitment to delivering lasting development across the state.
