Adams Haruna Takes NDC Campaign To Giwa, Secures Support For 2027
The Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate for Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Hon. Adams Haruna Ekene, on Sunday led members of his campaign team and party stakeholders on a strategic engagement visit to Giwa Local Government Area of Kaduna State as preparations intensify ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The delegation, which included the NDC Zonal Chairman, the Director-General of the campaign and other party leaders, met with all the 11 ward chairmen and coordinators in the local government.
The meeting provided an opportunity for the party leadership and its senatorial candidate to engage directly with grassroots stakeholders, listen to concerns from the communities and discuss strategies for strengthening the party's presence across the wards ahead of the 2027 elections.
During the meeting, participants deliberated extensively on issues affecting the people of Giwa, particularly concerns surrounding security, healthcare, education and the general welfare and wellbeing of residents.
Community representatives expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as inadequate attention to some of these critical areas, particularly the need for improved security, functional healthcare facilities and better educational infrastructure.
The stakeholders maintained that the people require responsive leadership that will pay greater attention to their everyday challenges and ensure that the needs of rural and underserved communities receive adequate consideration in government policies and programmes.
Responding to the issues raised, Hon. Adams Haruna Ekene reiterated the importance of grassroots engagement and people-oriented representation. He assured the stakeholders that the concerns of the people would remain central to his political agenda and promised to continue engaging directly with communities across Kaduna Central.
He emphasised that effective representation must go beyond election periods, stressing the need for leaders to remain accessible to the people, understand their challenges and advocate for solutions that can improve their quality of life.
The meeting also focused on the need for unity among NDC members, effective ward-level mobilisation and sustained engagement with voters as the party begins to strengthen its grassroots campaign structure across the senatorial district.
The NDC stakeholders in Giwa subsequently expressed their support for Hon. Adams Haruna Ekene and pledged their commitment to the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
They also endorsed a grassroots mobilisation strategy centred on direct engagement with voters, with “Door-to-Door Campaign” emerging as one of the key slogans for the mobilisation effort.
The stakeholders said the strategy would enable party members and campaign coordinators to reach residents directly, explain the party's programmes and listen to the concerns of voters at the community level.
Hon. Adams Haruna Ekene's campaign has in recent weeks continued to emphasise grassroots mobilisation and engagement with party structures across Kaduna Central. Recent public reports have also highlighted meetings involving the candidate and NDC Kaduna Central stakeholders as part of efforts to consolidate the campaign structure.
The Giwa engagement is expected to form part of a broader ward-to-ward mobilisation campaign as the NDC prepares for the 2027 elections, with the party seeking to strengthen its structures and build wider support across Kaduna Central.
The campaign team reiterated its commitment to peaceful, issue-based and inclusive political engagement, while calling on supporters to remain united and focused on the task ahead.
For the stakeholders in Giwa, the message from Sunday's meeting was clear: the road to 2027 will be taken to the grassroots, one ward and one household at a time.
