Women’s Inclusion Essential For Good Governance, National Development – NDC House Of Reps Hopeful

House of Representatives aspirant for the Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency in Edo State, Osato Blessing Osawé Esq., has reiterated the need for greater inclusion of women in governance, describing women as indispensable partners in leadership, policy formulation, and national development.

Osawé made the call as she reaffirmed her commitment to promoting inclusive governance, noting that sustainable progress cannot be achieved when women are underrepresented in political leadership and decision-making.

According to the legal practitioner and community advocate, women should be accorded equal opportunities to contest elections, occupy public offices, influence public policies, and contribute meaningfully to governance without discrimination or intimidation.

"Women are not just beneficiaries of good governance; they are essential partners in leadership, policy-making, and nation-building. Their voices matter, their ideas matter, and their leadership matters," she stated.

She emphasized that communities and nations thrive when women are actively involved in governance, adding that equal participation by women contributes to peace, economic growth, quality education, stronger families, and sustainable development.

Osawé maintained that women's inclusion in leadership should be based on their competence, intelligence, integrity, and proven contributions to society rather than on sympathy or tokenism.

"It is time these qualities are reflected at every level of government. Empowering women is not a favour; it is a necessity for national progress," she added.

Barrister Osato Blessing Osawé, a Barrister and Solicitor of the Supreme Court of Nigeria, is contesting to represent Orhionmwon/Uhunmwonde Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives under the platform of the Nigerian Democratic Congress (NDC).

Campaigning under the banner "Era of Visibility 2027," she has consistently advocated for grassroots-driven representation built on transparency, accessibility, and accountability.

Her legislative agenda prioritizes youth and women empowerment through skills acquisition programmes, job creation, and sports development, while also focusing on improving access to quality healthcare, education, clean water, electricity, and road infrastructure across the constituency.

A strong advocate for gender equality, Osawé believes that effective representation can only be achieved when public office holders remain accessible and directly accountable to the people they serve.

She therefore urged Nigerians to embrace inclusive leadership that reflects the country's diversity, stressing that empowering women is both a moral obligation and a strategic investment in national development.

"When women lead, communities prosper, institutions become stronger, and the future becomes brighter for everyone. Women's inclusion is not just the right thing to do—it is the smart thing to do," she concluded.
