Supporters Rally Behind Ado-Iliyasu, Express Confidence In His Vision For FCT Senate In 2027
A growing number of supporters of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) have expressed confidence in the senatorial aspiration of Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu, describing him as a grassroots politician whose years of humanitarian service, party loyalty, and commitment to community development have prepared him for effective representation of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) in the Senate.
Speaking through members of his support network, the group said Dr. Iliyasu's aspiration represents a renewed hope for residents seeking accessible, accountable, and people-centred leadership.
According to the supporters, Dr. Iliyasu has consistently demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of the people through various humanitarian interventions, youth empowerment initiatives, employment facilitation, community health outreach programmes, and sustained support for the growth of the Nigeria Democratic Congress across the FCT.
They maintained that his record of service distinguishes him from many political actors and positions him as a credible candidate capable of attracting meaningful development to the territory.
The supporters also renewed calls for the FCT Senate seat to be rotated to Abuja South, arguing that the area has remained underrepresented since the return of democratic governance in 1999.
They noted that Abuja South, which comprises Abaji, Gwagwalada, Kwali, and Kuje Area Councils, deserves the opportunity to produce the next senator in the interest of fairness, equity, and balanced representation.
According to them, zoning the seat to Abuja South would foster greater inclusion and strengthen the sense of belonging among residents of the area.
Supporters further described Dr. Iliyasu as a bridge-builder who has continued to unite people across ethnic, religious, and political divides through his community-based initiatives.
They expressed confidence that, if elected, he would champion legislation aimed at improving healthcare delivery, expanding educational opportunities, empowering youths and women, creating employment, enhancing infrastructure, and ensuring transparent representation for all residents of the Federal Capital Territory.
They added that his campaign is built on the ideals of integrity, service, accountability, and inclusive governance, with a commitment to ensuring that every community within the FCT benefits from the dividends of democracy.
The group also encouraged eligible Nigerians residing in the FCT to participate actively in the democratic process by registering with their preferred political parties, obtaining their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs), and supporting leaders they believe possess the vision, competence, and character to deliver quality representation.
"Our conviction is that the future of the FCT depends on electing leaders who understand the people's challenges and are prepared to provide practical solutions. We believe Dr. Ibrahim Ado Iliyasu possesses the experience, compassion, and leadership qualities required to represent the Federal Capital Territory effectively at the National Assembly," the supporters said.
They further appealed to residents across the six Area Councils to embrace peaceful political participation and issue-based campaigns as preparations for the 2027 general elections continue.
The supporters concluded by expressing optimism that Dr. Iliyasu's aspiration would inspire greater political inclusion, strengthen democratic participation, and contribute to sustainable development across the Federal Capital Territory.
