Nwifuru's Foreign Scholarship Scheme Producing Globally Competitive Ebonyi Scholars — Nwedu
A member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue (EBSIRS), Nwedu Abraham Nwedu, has commended the administration of Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru for expanding access to international education through the state's foreign scholarship programme, describing the initiative as a strategic investment in the future of Ebonyi State.
Nwedu said the People's Charter of Needs administration introduced the Foreign Scholarship Scheme to equip outstanding Ebonyi students with world-class education and prepare a new generation of globally competitive professionals capable of driving the state's development.
According to him, the programme reflects Governor Nwifuru's conviction that sustainable development is best achieved by investing in human capital and creating opportunities for young people to compete successfully on the global stage.
"Governor Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru believes that the future of Ebonyi State will be built by globally competitive minds. That vision gave birth to the Foreign Scholarship Scheme, which is opening global doors for qualified Ebonyi students to study in leading institutions around the world," Nwedu said.
He noted that the initiative is already yielding positive results, with several beneficiaries who have successfully completed their Master's degree programmes now progressing to doctoral (PhD) studies in various countries.
According to Nwedu, the success stories emerging from the scholarship scheme demonstrate the administration's commitment to empowering young people through quality education and international exposure.
He stated that the programme is not only transforming individual lives but is also building a pool of highly skilled professionals who will contribute meaningfully to Ebonyi State's socio-economic development upon completing their studies.
Nwedu described the scholarship initiative as a practical demonstration of the People's Charter of Needs agenda, stressing that the Nwifuru administration is focused on creating opportunities that enable Ebonyi youths to realise their full potential.
"From classrooms in Ebonyi to graduation ceremonies in some of the world's leading universities, these scholars are proving that strategic investment in education produces lasting results. Governor Nwifuru is building a future where Ebonyi is represented by globally competitive professionals in every field," he added.
He further commended Governor Nwifuru for prioritising education and human capital development, noting that the foreign scholarship programme has positioned Ebonyi as a state committed to nurturing excellence, innovation and global relevance.
Nwedu expressed optimism that the initiative would continue to produce future leaders, researchers and professionals who will contribute to the advancement of Ebonyi State and Nigeria as a whole.
