Nwedu Hails Governor Nwifuru As UAAE Ezza Begins Academic Journey With 25 Degree Programmes

Hon. Nwedu Abraham Nwedu, a member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue (EBSIRS), has commended the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Prnc. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for the successful take-off of the University of Aeronautics and Aerospace Engineering (UAAE), Ezza, describing the institution as a landmark investment that will shape the future of aviation, technology, and innovation in Nigeria.

In a statement made available to journalists, Nwedu described the commencement of academic activities at UAAE for the 2026/2027 academic session as a major milestone in the implementation of Governor Nwifuru's People's Charter of Needs agenda and a demonstration of his administration's commitment to human capital development.

According to him, the university will begin academic activities with 25 undergraduate programmes spread across four faculties—Engineering, Science, Computing, and Business Management—providing students with opportunities to acquire specialised knowledge and skills in emerging fields critical to national development.

He noted that the institution, licensed as Nigeria's 300th university, the country's 69th state-owned university, and the third state-owned university in Ebonyi State, represents a bold step towards positioning Ebonyi as a leading destination for aviation, aerospace engineering, scientific research, and technological innovation.

Nwedu said the Faculty of Engineering will offer programmes in Aerospace Engineering, Automotive Engineering, Nuclear Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial and Production Engineering, Materials and Metallurgical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Polymer and Composite Engineering, and Civil Engineering.

He added that the Faculty of Science will run programmes in Physics with Electronics, Pure and Applied Chemistry, Industrial Mathematics, Statistics, Meteorology, Forensic Science, and Microbiology, while the Faculty of Computing will offer Computer Science, Data Science, Software Engineering, and Cybersecurity. The Faculty of Business Management will commence with Business Management and Psychology.

According to Nwedu, the establishment of the specialised university underscores Governor Nwifuru's vision of building an economy driven by knowledge, innovation, and technology.

He expressed optimism that the institution would produce highly skilled professionals capable of driving advancements in aviation, engineering, science, computing, and business while promoting research, entrepreneurship, and industrial development.

Nwedu further stated that the university would help reduce the number of Nigerian students seeking specialised education abroad, attract investment into Ebonyi State, strengthen research in strategic sectors, and contribute to the state's long-term economic growth and global competitiveness.

He urged prospective students and parents to monitor announcements from the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) regarding admissions into UAAE for the 2026/2027 academic session, noting that academic activities would commence after the completion of resource verification.

Describing Governor Nwifuru as a visionary leader committed to building a prosperous future through education, Nwedu said the establishment of UAAE demonstrates that sustainable development is achieved by investing in people and creating opportunities for future generations.

He prayed for God's continued wisdom, strength, and good health for the governor as he continues to implement transformative policies aimed at advancing education, innovation, and socio-economic development in Ebonyi State.
