Nwedu Applauds Governor Nwifuru's Postgraduate Scholarship Scheme, Says Investment in Human Capital Will Transform Ebonyi
Hon. Nwedu Abraham Nwedu, a member of the Ebonyi State Board of Internal Revenue (EBSIRS), has commended the Executive Governor of Ebonyi State, Rt. Hon. Bldr. Prnc. Francis Ogbonna Nwifuru, for sponsoring more than 500 indigenes of the state to pursue Master's and PhD programmes in universities across Nigeria.
In a statement made available to journalists, Nwedu described the postgraduate scholarship initiative as a bold investment in human capital and a clear demonstration of the governor's commitment to developing the intellectual capacity of Ebonyi people through his administration's People's Charter of Needs agenda.
According to him, the beneficiaries, drawn from the 13 local government areas of the state, are pursuing advanced studies in critical professional fields, including medicine, engineering, law, pharmacy, and other disciplines essential to the state's socio-economic development.
He noted that by fully funding the postgraduate education of qualified Ebonyi indigenes, Governor Nwifuru has removed financial barriers that often prevent talented individuals from attaining higher academic and professional qualifications.
Nwedu said the initiative would strengthen the state's human resource base by producing highly skilled professionals whose knowledge and expertise would enhance healthcare delivery, infrastructure development, the justice system, pharmaceutical services, public administration, entrepreneurship, research, and innovation across Ebonyi State.
He further stated that the scholarship programme reflects visionary leadership that recognises education as the foundation of sustainable development and understands that the greatest asset of any society is its people.
According to him, the long-term benefits of the initiative will be felt for generations as the beneficiaries complete their studies and return to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of the state.
Nwedu described Governor Nwifuru as "a leader committed to building people as well as infrastructure," adding that the administration's continued investment in education has positioned Ebonyi State for greater progress and competitiveness.
He prayed for God's continued wisdom, strength, and good health for Governor Nwifuru as he continues to implement policies and programmes aimed at transforming Ebonyi State through purposeful and people-centred leadership.
