NDC Grassroots Leaders Pledge Total Support for Party Candidates After YELGA Stakeholders' Meeting

A strategic grassroots engagement meeting convened by Hon. Gift Otobo and Mr. John Ogele has reaffirmed the commitment of executive members of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) in Yenagoa Local Government Area (YELGA) Constituency I to work for the success of all the party's candidates in the forthcoming elections.

The meeting, held on July 10, 2026, brought together NDC Ward Executive Committee (EXCO) members from Wards 1, 2, and 3 to deliberate on the way forward for the party and strengthen collaboration between party leaders and the grassroots.
Participants expressed appreciation for the opportunity to engage directly with the conveners, describing the meeting as a timely initiative that demonstrated respect for the party's grassroots structure. They also offered suggestions and observations aimed at improving coordination and ensuring that ward executives remain actively involved in party affairs.

Speaking on behalf of the gathering, the Chairman of NDC YELGA Ward 1, Comrade Ransom Giani James, commended Hon. Gift Otobo and Mr. John Ogele for organizing the engagement. He described the initiative as a smart and thoughtful demonstration of love and respect for grassroots members.
Comrade James assured the conveners of the unwavering commitment of the ward executives to mobilize support and secure victory for all NDC candidates. However, he expressed concern over the growing trend of some party aspirants and candidates visiting wards and communities without informing or engaging the local EXCO members.

Other executives echoed similar concerns, describing the neglect of ward leadership as troubling. They stressed that grassroots party officials are closest to the electorate and warned that sidelining them could negatively affect the party's chances at the polls. They urged all party stakeholders to uphold the supremacy of the party and strengthen collaboration with ward executives.
Responding to the concerns, Hon. Gift Otobo and Mr. John Ogele assured members that their observations would be communicated to the appropriate party leaders. They pledged that necessary steps would be taken to address the issues raised and enhance coordination across all levels of the party.

The meeting concluded on a positive note, with participants reaffirming their resolve to work together to ensure the victory of all NDC candidates in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.
